Explore a Dreamy Kaleidoscope of Happy Colorful Pastel Houses
Happy Saturday morning, friends! It’s hard to be in a gloomy mood when the birds are singing, the spring bulbs are making their appearance, and the sun is shining. To celebrate the upcoming spring season, I’m sharing a collection of colorful pastel houses that are sure to make you smile.
This pretty Victorian duo is located in San Francisco where you’ll find an almost unending display of cheery homes in a range of colors. Take a moment to absorb all the details, from the painted trim to the iron trim at the roofline.
Eureka, California is another west coast town that features an array of colorful pastel houses that are well cared for. All the gingerbread on this charmer is such a delight. I can imagine the great pains it took to meticulously paint the trim work. It’s like a piece of art, really.
A yellow Victorian porch is accented with green and white. I wouldn’t mind finding a screen door like this one for my own home. Maybe that’s a project I can undertake this summer.
A mauve beauty stands out on the block with its attention to details. It almost looks like the trim above the lower windows is embossed in gold. I love the soft color palette of this Victorian home.
Ferndale, California has its own proud collection of colorful pastel houses. Hubby and I visited this historic town a few years ago and fell in love with it. You can see more of the area in my previous blog posts about Ferndale.
Here’s another mauve beauty with touches of gold. I like to think back when these homes were built and wonder what all went into the design and construction process. These houses had to be a labor of love when they were being built. Each one is so unique.
Fish scale trim has always been a favorite architectural detail of mine. If I were to ever re-side my Victorian cottage, I would add fish scale trim to it. This porch looks so quaint and pretty in shades of blue.
The colors on this turret are a bit bold as opposed to being pastels, but you still get a springtime vibe from the palette. I like how a few rows of the fish scales on the peak were painted different colors.
Pastels don’t have to be limited to pink, blue, yellow, and mint green. According to Wikipedia, a pastel is a family of pale colors with high value and low saturation. You’ll find this pale green charmer in Cape May, New Jersey.
A few bold hues mix with the paler colors on this intricately-painted Victorian. If you look closely at the gingerbread on the porch, you’ll see the color pink was used to emphasize the heart shapes in the trim.
This mauve Victorian home is another beauty that I spotted on my trip to Ferndale. If you’ve never been there, it’s worth the trip!
An old stone cottage features a pastel blue arched door with Tudor style trim work to match. I want to open that door and explore inside, don’t you?
I hope today’s collection of colorful pastel houses lifted your spirits and got you to thinking about spring!
These houses are beautiful and the colors are amazing. I could look at these houses all day and I bet the inside is fabulous too. Jennifer that screen door is really perfect and I’m sure you can find one. 26 days until Spring.
Such beautiful homes! Thank you for sharing!
Yes, I would like to explore the inside of each of these! And I’m wondering the cost of the painting contracts! The detail on the structures in that first San Francisco photo is amazing, but I also like the mauve and green number. What a delight!
Beautiful homes. Our 1893 Victorian in a Chicago suburb is painted the same as the 1st with the exception of the yellow being hearts of palm. We have several thousand perennials in various gardens.
Beautiful homes. So much detail. I also love that screen door and that entry to the little stone cottage. Sometimes I wish I could just travel this country renting different homes like this for short periods of time to experience living in all the different styles of homes and the areas.
