Friday Finds #27: The Best Present
I’ve been waiting a full week to share the news – Cove Christopher came into this world on Thanksgiving Day! He was one day past his due date but he arrived quickly, in just two-and-a-half hours.
We had cancelled our Thanksgiving day plans, primarily due to the virus as outbreaks were rapidly spreading in our area. It was a quiet Thanksgiving morning when my daughter texted me to tell me that contractions had started and the midwife had arrived.
This is Bridget’s third child and third home birth. She opts for a water birth so there’s a blow-up pool waiting for her to deliver when she’s ready. I always take pictures of the event, which is a treat for me.
When I arrived at her house with camera in hand, I opened the front door and saw that she wasn’t in the pool yet. Good – I had enough time to set up my camera and get ready. But then I glanced over at the couch to see her with Cove already snuggled against her chest. I missed the birth!
No one can predict how fast a baby will come and apparently little Cove was anxious to make his grand entrance. Next week I’m helping Bridget with her boys since her hubby goes back to work. I’m taking the week off and am thoroughly looking forward to it. I’ve been keeping myself in quarantine for the time being so as not to bring any germs into their home.
So that was my exciting Thanksgiving holiday. And now it’s time for some Friday Finds!
First off, if you didn’t get to see all the homes on this week’s Holiday Housewalk, you can start the tour at Jennifer Rizzo’s blog. It’s always an honor for me to be included in this Christmas tour.
For those who love the scent of fresh greens in their holiday homes, here’s a guide to greenery that you’ll find helpful.
This weekend I’m going to finally make some dried orange slices using my friend Laurie’s dried oranges tutorial. I’ll let you know if I’m successful!
For something off the subject of the holiday season – if you enjoy using the winter months to plan your summer vacation, here’s a post about Harbor Springs, Michigan that looks like a wonderful place to visit!
And finally, if you need a new cookie recipe for the holidays, be sure to check out my peanut butter cookie cups. They’re relatively easy to make and everyone loves them. Be forewarned – they’re addicting!
Just three more weeks until Christmas!! It’s going to go by fast!
Congratulations!! The BEST gift for sure! Happy and safe holidays to you and yours! xoxoxo
