Halloween Decorating in a Jiffy

Around these parts, Halloween decorating is quickly becoming competitive with Christmas decorations. I’m sure you’ve probably seen an abundance of costumes and spooky decor in the stores where you live. This year, I decided to do something a little more “au naturelle” in a corner of the kitchen.

One thing I love to do with pumpkins is to stack them. Just find flatter pumpkins and if necessary, trim off the stem so that another pumpkin will sit comfortably on top.

A rustic crate turned on its side becomes an impromptu display for gourds and Baby Boo pumpkins.

These gourds will get recycled into my Thanksgiving decor. I like to get as much mileage as possible out of decorations.

Since I don’t typically carve pumpkins, I add candlesticks to cast a glow.

Last year I made this vintage Halloween banner using book pages, vintage graphics, and twine.

I printed the graphics and Mod Podged them onto the book pages. Then I applied a coat of Mod Podge over the entire page to help preserve it.

My Halloween decorating was done in a jiffy as I was busy making pumpkin bread today.

On Halloween I’ll put a bunch of mason jars with candles out on the porch for the Trick or Treaters.

  1. Your garland is so cute, Jennifer! BTW, I love your Christmas tree photo on your sidebar. I want to do that to one of my trees this year (cutting some branches out), because it looks so much like photos I have of my Mom’s trees in the early 50’s!

  2. It’s always so nice to pop over here and see your decor. love the banner and will have to try it sometime…and I like your white pumpkins versus a lot of orange. Have a good day!
