How to Create a Festive Front Door with a Christmas Wreath
It’s official! I’ve been bitten by the Christmas bug and am now in the mood to decorate for the holidays. Perhaps a few days of snow had something to do with getting rid of the bah humbug attitude. My tree is up and decorated and I’ve created a few vignettes in spaces that I thought I wouldn’t embellish. And finally today, a live Christmas wreath was placed on the front door. See how to create your own festive front door with the wreath ideas below. (This post contains affiliate links – see my privacy policy.)
When your door is painted a gorgeous shade of dark blue, it doesn’t take much to make it look better. But this natural wreath pairs holly leaves with evergreens and baubles. A plaid bow finishes it off.
A traditionally decorated front porch also features a wreath with sprigs of holly tucked in. The trick to the rich look of the Christmas spirit at this house is the lush evergreen garland. Yes, it’s expensive, but it sure looks great.
Why not try pink on your Christmas wreath? It looks so pretty against the dark gray door. To create this look, grab a live wreath from the garden center and dress it up with ornaments and glass bead tree trim. You can typically find a 24-inch live wreath for under 20 dollars.
When decorating your door for Christmas, consider the color of your front door. Here, the homeowner choose blue ornaments, along with red, to enhance the blue of the door. Big ornaments fill the garland while smaller ones decorate the wreath.
Got a moss wreath on hand? Add a glittery bow and ornament and call it a day. You could do the same with a grapevine wreath which are super inexpensive.
Although this post is about creating a festive front door, if you’ve got a vintage truck on the property, trim it with a wreath and a big plaid bow.

These were great examples of pretty wreaths. I use the same wreath every year but I put different picks to change it up.
