Kitchen Islands to Love

farmhouse style, home decor, kitchen ideas March 5, 2016

Lately I’m obsessed with kitchens. This usually happens when I have the itch to cook or bake more. As I’m scurrying about the kitchen I’m aware of weaknesses in my kitchen and I’ve been thinking I could use a bit more counter top and storage space. I suppose most of us feel that way about our kitchens from time to time. I have enough space to get a larger kitchen island, so I’m keeping my eyes open when I start scouring the local flea markets this spring. For now, here’s a few kitchen islands to whet the appetite. (Note: Images from Houzz are embedded. Click on photo to be taken to the original and pin from the Houzz website. You can, however, pin the photo collage at the beginning of the post.)

A collection of kitchen islands you'll love!If you need more counter tops and storage, a kitchen island is a quick and easy way to accomplish the task.

If you think your kitchen isn’t big enough for an island, think again. This simple, narrow island will fit in a slender kitchen.

I love this charming cottage kitchen!  The kitchen island has a galvanized metal top and the bottom is open for easy access to frequently used kitchen staples like olive oil, fresh veggies and herbs. A large baskets keep smaller items neat and tidy tucked inside.

Well-designed kitchen islands serve several purposes. This pretty painted one with a butcher block top not only adds extra counter area and storage, but also provides a convenient spot for the microwave oven.

Here’s the perfect kitchen island for the wine lover (ie me!).

Got a teeny tiny kitchen?  Here’s your solution!  You’ll benefit from a few extra drawers along with a handy space for your paper towels. I totally need to add a paper towel holder to my kitchen island. Wish I would’ve thought of this sooner.

Do you like Old World style?  A rustic kitchen island is the perfect option. Stools upholstered in a rich fabric lend an air of elegance.

Got a big family? This island can handle a crowd!

This is perhaps one of the most expansive, elegant kitchen islands I’ve ever seen. Perfect for entertaining and it looks pretty, too.

I love this painted kitchen island. It has tons of storage and counter space! Corbels and beveled doors and drawers add architectural appeal, and the marble top is beautiful.

And finally, a beautiful farmhouse style kitchen island. Simple yet functional, it’s a perfect space for heavy duty baking and cooking.

Kitchen islands are both functional and attractive. Do you have a kitchen island in your home?

I so love these islands…Although painting my cabinetry is not an option…there is the possibility of changing out the island…so thanks for the inspiration and have a great weekend!
