This Is My Christmas Home With Simple Holiday Vibes

Welcome to my Christmas home that’s decorated with simple holiday vibes. It’s been a couple of years since I joined my friend Jennifer Rizzo’s Holiday Housewalk, but it’s good to be back. All week long, bloggers have shared their holiday homes and today is the last day – and I’m the last house. So I’m like the little Christmas Caboose of the tour. Special thanks to Jen for pulling this tour together every year. It’s a lot of work and she’s been hosting it for many years now. And if you’re taking today’s tour of all three homes, you probably ventured over here from Janet’s beautiful home at Shabbyfufu. She always creates an elegant, romantic holiday home.

Back to my Christmas home. Believe it or not, this tree is one of those sparse trees but it’s hard to tell since I overloaded it with a mix of vintage and new ornaments. Many of them I’ve collected over the years and pulled them out from storage. Burgundy velvet ribbons finish the trimming of the tree.

I have a confession to make about my holiday decorations. I was only going to have a single Christmas tree and maybe a couple of poinsettias. That’s it. Except one thing led to another and I kind of got in the holiday spirit and decorated more than I thought I would. I always start with my tree.

And as often happens, trimming the tree inspires me to keep going with the decorations. So I kept adding both new and vintage ornaments to the tree.

The only Christmas decor on the other side of the room is a single, large poinsettia. I plan to paint this room a new color soon. On the far right (out of the camera’s sight), I have a row of peel-and-stick paint colors to help choose the new palette. I’m leaning toward green or cream to match the new William Morris rug.

The entryway/living room in my Christmas home is also going through a transformation. Several months ago I mentioned that I want to get away from neutrals and add more color. This decision was inspired by a contemporary folk artist I met at a local art fair. I fell in love with her work and thought, “I wish I could redecorate my home to accommodate her work.” And then proceeded to do so in the way of color. So I blame Marian Baker in Alabama for causing all the disruption in my house! LOL.

Her chicken painting graces my entryway and I changed the colors to match the painting. The upper half of the wall is Coastal Cottage by Benjamin Moore, while the lower half and trim is Accessible Beige by Sherwin Williams. I’m still looking for a small throw rug to put in here.

Normally I would choose a landscape painting or similar for my home, but that’s so predictable. I’ve always had a thing for folk art, and Marian’s contemporary spin gives the style a fresh look. Not to mention, when you look at high-end decorating magazines, you’ll often see original artwork woven into rooms in unique ways. Marian uses mixed media to create her art. For my Christmas home, I added a wooden pedestal bowl filled with vintage-style ornaments, and Mr. Bunny got a holiday wreath for a necklace.

The living room is a little sparse on furniture for the time being. I’m on the hunt for a loveseat, new coffee table, and perhaps a pair of accent chairs. The current arrangement is temporary, but I did do a little holiday decorating in here. The chandie gets a bit of greenery and I set out a few of my bottle brush and wooden Christmas trees. And I hung my winter church print in its usual spot.

Let’s continue my Christmas home tour by heading into my current favorite room in the house – the dining room. On a whim I decided to add a tiny tree in the corner. When the tree lights are turned on it creates enough light for a romantic dinner.

I’ve got a mix of felted ornaments, glass mushrooms, and little red cardinals on the dining room tree.

And under the tree are some festive holiday house boxes that I found at HomeGoods. They always have a great selection of print boxes that aren’t expensive.

The wallpaper in my holiday dining room is Fable by Rifle Paper Co. The paint color is a custom mix that I created because the first paint choice was too dark, and the second was too light. So I mixed them and got the perfect shade! The rabbit print on the wall is from a local artist. She creates beautiful works of art using seeds, feathers, leaves, and more. Then she makes prints out of the original work and sells them at fairs and on Etsy at HBeeSTUDIO.

For the table centerpiece, a wooden bowl cradles an assortment of Shiny Brite ornaments.

The dining buffet got a few simple adornments for the holidays. My olive oil jar displays a single evergreen stem while a bunch of stems fill my newest pottery bowl. A small topiary poinsettia completes the vignette.

The kitchen in my Christmas home wears a new shade of Dutch Tile Blue by Sherwin Williams. I’m normally not a big blue person but I saw this color kitchen on Instagram and fell in love. It’s always hard for me to choose a paint color for this room due to the green tile floor. I like the blue and green together.

Another contemporary folk art painting by Miss Marian is here in the kitchen dining nook. I like that the sisters are watching over meal time. I was going to put this painting in my bedroom, but then not as many people would be able to enjoy it. So I found this spot in the kitchen. Marian also sells a few pieces on her Etsy shop.

Let’s end with a final view of our main Christmas tree in the family room, this time with the lights on.
