8 Patio Ideas for Outdoor Entertaining
We recently installed a new deck next to the pond and will soon add a pea gravel patio. While getting the work done, I’ve been looking for inspirational ideas by cruising some of my blogging friends’ outdoor living areas!
Annie at Zevy Joy creates a cozy spot on her pretty patio with comfy furniture and an outdoor rug. A sectional like this would be great for pondside viewing.
Beth at Home Stories A to Z defines a seating area on her patio with a colorful rug and outdoor wicker furniture. The umbrella provides a bit of shade from the harsh summer sun.
And speaking of umbrellas, I love this monstrosity of a patio umbrella at Kelly’s home over at Eclectically Vintage. We put up a sail cloth to create shade over our deck but I’d prefer an umbrella like this. I bet I can find one on sale this time of year.
You’ll find not one, but two patio umbrellas on Kristen’s outdoor living space over at Ella Claire. She also has the same string lights that I plan to add to our pergola once it’s installed.
I just adore the idea of vintage furniture for an outdoor space. Sarah at Little Vintage Nest added this charming crib-turned-settee to her brick patio.
Brooke at Nesting with Grace gave her deck flooring a two-toned effect. I love this look but hubby is adamant about staining and sealing the wood. I like how Brooke created two zones in her outdoor living area – one for eating and one for lounging.
Next week I hope to start on our pea gravel patio. My friend Danielle at Finding Silver Pennies shares how to install a pea gravel patio and I’ll probably turn to her instructions for help. Don’t you love her little she shed with the whale compass on top?
Vines create a green wall surrounding the pea gravel patio at the home of Courtney from French Country Cottage. I love her use of a wood stump for a makeshift table.
I hope by next week I’ll be ready to share more of our new pond and the process it took to create it! I’m out there every day enjoying the soothing sound of the waterfall.
How are you spending your final days of summer?
All lovely ideas. And I’m so looking forward to seeing what you do with your outdoor area.
Lovely. Weird question: How do you manage all the soft goods during inclement weather?
The examples look so inviting. I see there is another Margaret that enjoys all of your ideas. With the sizing down of inside space so many now enjoying out-side living especially in the southern states. Through this change there are many fabrics that are used for inclement weather. The way we handle the outdoors fluff is, watch the local weather news. Also the contractors bags easily fit in the garage or utility room for O-S items when not using.. Our family idea is for every one to grab their needed fluff, from the garage/utility room, when using Out-Side living…then return items when coming back in-side. Of course, when entertaining, all space is dressed-up for that occasion . This is our way of O-S living with inclement weather. I hope all enjoy the custom of O-S living.
These ideas sure give me some great ideas. i would love to put in some pea gravel and a she shed some day or at least before i die, lol!!! Am anxious to see your yard and what you have accomplished.
Love all these ideas! I’m personally a fan of nice table to create a central area of discussion, however the pea gravel idea is fascinating to me. I imagine it may be harder to pull off but when done correctly would be very nice.
