Summer Lake House: Charming Home Tour
Warm breezes have floated into town making it feel like mid-July when you step outside. It’s making me nostalgic for the carefree summer days of childhood, when each day held a new adventure and you had no concerns. Today’s charming home tour recalls an early childhood summer vacation to the Canadian side of Lake Superior. It’s a colorful summer lake house that’s going to make you want to go on vacation.
The first thing you want any vacation getaway to have is water! Whether it’s looking out at the view from a beautiful porch like this, or walking along the shoreline early in the morning. Water is the #1 destination for the majority of vacationers.
This beautiful home located on Lake Fairlee in Vermont has an amazing kitchen with ample windows for a view of the lake.
Industrial style farmhouse lighting hangs over the blue-painted kitchen island.
In the living room, a rustic stone fireplace takes center stage and provides cozy warmth on cool evenings.
A game table takes up residence in a corner with a window seat.
Painted trim adds fun color throughout the summer lake house. Additional color is incorporated with festive red dining chairs.
Great use of space is evident throughout, too. Here, the architect tucked a deck in between floor-to-ceiling storage units.

Gorgeous tile covers the floor of the entryway while a traditional wool rug adds softness underfoot.
Note the architectural details like the mullioned window at the foot of the stairs and the unique stair railing.

The upstairs hallway is beautiful with more of the railing, French doors, and transom window set over the door at the end, allowing ample sunlight to fill the space.

Any kid would love a bedroom like this! Shoot, I’d like a bedroom like this. Drawers under the beds create storage for extra linens. I love the windows and can imagine leaving them open at night to sleep with fresh air.
Another summer lake house bedroom has a window nearby and a brightly-colored painted floor.

Just outside, adventure awaits! The summer lake house we stayed in up in Canada wasn’t this pretty. In fact, I remember when we arrived my mother and grandma thought the house was dirty and spent the first day of our vacation cleaning it. The rest of us kids disappeared outside and played in the lake.
I hope you enjoyed today’s tour of this pretty summer lake house.
