Wallpaper, the Grandpa Trend, and Interior Makeovers: Friday Finds #107

What a gorgeous fall season we’re having! My yard is golden with color, especially from the maple tree out front that looks like it’s glowing whether the sun is shining or not. And then there’s the Hosta leaves that have turned the same glorious shade of yellow. Even Tuesday’s rain couldn’t dampen my spirits. I hope your fall days have been as nice as ours. Would you believe my hanging baskets of impatiens are still going strong? I’m trying to keep them alive until November, which would be a record of how late in the year they’ve lasted.

Before we explore this week’s Friday Finds, I want to first announce the winners of the Orchard cook book giveaway. Congratulations to Judy J, Ellen H, and Debbie (check your email, ladies). I love giving away books on the blog. I hope it’s as fun for you as it is for me.

A lot of people struggle with decorating their home, but I think it’s best to relax about it and fill your home with things you love. But if you need a quick tip or two or five, here’s five easy ways to add character to any room. I incorporate all of them in my own home.

You’ve probably heard of the return of Grandma Chic style, but are you aware that there’s a Grandpa design trend too? It applies to both home decorating and fashion!

Since it’s almost Halloween, I thought I’d include this roundup of favorite Martha Stewart Halloween crafts to get you in the spooky spirit.

Green is a hot color right now – you see it almost everywhere. If you’re a fan of the earthy hue, you’ll enjoy this kitchen makeover that features the rich Forest Green paint color by Benjamin Moore.

Looking for something to do this weekend? Head to the kitchen and make this yummy maple butter twist bread recipe from my friend Kristen who blogs at Ella Claire & Co. I can almost smell and taste it now!

Don’t forget to buy your Halloween treats for Monday. It looks like it’s going to be a nice day for the kiddos here in Chicagoland.
