10 Amazing Examples of Painted Trim Throughout the Home

Painted trim is one of my favorite ways to add subtle color and personality to a space without overwhelming the room (my house has plenty of painted trim!). Whether itโ€™s soft blue French doors, sage green wainscoting, or pale pink crown molding, painted woodwork instantly elevates your home and highlights architectural details in a fresh, unexpected way. See today’s examples to see how this decorating treatment enhances a room.

Painted trim is proof that small details can make a big design impact. It takes a little bit of finesse to paint trim work, but it’s truly worth the effort. I just painted the trim and wainscoting on my staircase (Evergreen Fog by Sherwin Williams) and I absolutely love it. I’ll show it soon – I need to get my living room wallpapered first!

    1. There is something I love about each of these rooms, especially the ones with green trim. I love the idea of painting the trim an actual color, but I’m not sure if I want to experiment with it in my own house???

  1. This is my favorite post EVER!!! I absolutely love every one of these rooms! Painting the trim darker than the walls is classic and it really highlights beautifully proportioned millwork.

  2. Love that first photo with the wallpaper and the lovely green trim and I could live happily with the butter yellow kitchen. Is anyone else put off by this trend toward wild, dark vein patterns in marble? I can feel myself physically contract just looking at the photos. I have to think that many of homeowners who hop on this bandwagon are going to be sorry they opted for what I think is just an awful fad that will soon fade.

  3. You have found and shown us some of the best examples of painted trim out there!
So pretty and all of them such an inspiration. Loved the first photo. At first I didn’t think I would like a yellow kitchen, but it’s the shade of yellow they used that makes it work I think. You wouldn’t get tired of that shade of yellow. And I thought pink trim would be too much, yet the girl’s bedroom is so sweet. Such a light and pretty shade of pink. Tastefully done. Enjoyed all these examples!

  4. Great examples, I painted my trim in my bedroom and it does make it look very different. If the walls are a white color it does add color to a room and makes a big difference, love painted trim.

  5. Loved the Buttery Yellow farmhouse kitchen!! How would I be able to fine the brand and name of the paint? Thank you!!
