A Beautiful and Colorful Traditional Home Tour for You
Today I’m featuring a beautifully appointed traditional home from several years ago. Sometimes I like to look at past tours and Barbara’s abode stands out to me. I love her traditional style and use of color throughout each room. Her decorating is timeless and classic and is still relevant today.
When you step onto Barbara’s front porch dressed for fall, you’re immediately welcomed by the style that hints at what’s waiting for you on the other side of her front door. Beautiful colors pair with the perfect choice of furniture. You immediately feel welcomed by the cozy scene.

Color and style greet you in the entryway. A handsome wood console and black arched mirror provide a classic foundation for this colorful vignette. The mint-green chair, patterned pillow, autumn flowers, and collected accessories give the space an inviting, lived-in personality.

Traditional style feels anything but stuffy in this cozy living room, where plaid pillows and a throw introduce shades of blue, green, and gold. Seasonal accents and natural textures add another layer of warmth without overwhelming the room.

Honey-toned cabinetry and rich wood furniture warm up the black-and-white elements in this welcoming kitchen. A generous arrangement of yellow and cream tulips adds a fresh burst of color and draws the eye into the room. The layout of Barbara’s kitchen is both practical and efficient.

From this angle, you can see how the yellow gingham curtains in the breakfast nook brighten the charcoal-gray walls and black dining chairs. The combination of classic patterns, painted furniture, and warm wood gives the room an updated country feel.

Soft blue-gray walls create a beautiful backdrop for warm wood furniture, blue accents, and a collection of white plates. Floral curtains and greenery soften the room, showing how traditional decorating can incorporate color in a graceful way.

I love the vintage aqua tile that gives this bathroom its unmistakable personality and turns an otherwise simple space into something memorable. Crisp white walls and accessories keep all that wonderful color feeling fresh and light. Note that the inside of the sink bowls is also aqua!

Coral, sage green, and warm wood tones create a rich but restful palette in this traditional bedroom. The patterned bedspread and leafy ceiling wallpaper prove that color and pattern can work together beautifully when balanced with neutrals.

Aqua pillows, vivid blue hydrangeas, and a richly patterned red rug bring this traditional bedroom to life. Against the crisp white bedding and dark antique-style furniture, the colors feel fresh, collected, and wonderfully personal.

Crisp blue-and-white wicker furnishings bring plenty of color to this light-filled sun room, while a red plaid throw and seasonal flowers add warmth. The mix of patterns keeps the traditional space feeling cheerful and relaxed.

I love Barbara’s use of color and timeless furnishings throughout her home. Although I don’t believe she’s still blogging, her website and inspiration can still be viewed at 21 Rosemary Lane.
