9 Beautiful New England Homes That Look Magical in Fall
If there’s one place in America that truly knows how to show off in autumn, it might just be New England. The combination of historic architecture, charming old neighborhoods, and trees bursting with brilliant shades of red, orange, and gold creates a scene that’s almost too pretty to be real. New England homes in fall have a special kind of beauty, where centuries of history meet one of nature’s most spectacular seasonal displays.
Today, I’m sharing nine beautiful homes that capture the magic of autumn in New England. And because I have so many wonderful houses to share, this is just the first half of our tour! Next Saturday, on Halloween, we’ll visit nine more.
A Classic White New England Home
This lovely white home with its dark green shutters, graceful columns, and welcoming front porch is everything I love about traditional New England architecture. The brilliant red maple leaves framing the house make a beautiful contrast against the white siding, while the brick walkway invites you to come a little closer.

A Dark and Moody New England Home
Not every autumn home needs to be white or painted a cheerful color to stand out! The deep charcoal siding on this handsome house creates a dramatic contrast against the brilliant yellow, orange, and red foliage, making the entire scene feel especially cozy and inviting.

A Cheerful Orange House with a Blue Door
Could there be a more perfect house color for autumn? This beautiful orange home practically celebrates the season all on its own, with crisp white shutters, a contrasting blue front door, and hydrangeas that have faded into lovely muted autumn shades.

The Famous Salem Witch House
No tour of New England homes in fall would be complete without a stop at the famous Salem Witch House in Salem, Massachusetts. Its dark exterior, steep gables, and small diamond-paned windows give it an unmistakably mysterious appearance, especially when surrounded by golden leaves.
It’s worth noting this was the home of Judge Jonathan Corwin, who participated in the Salem witch trials of 1692. It’s the only surviving Salem building with direct ties to those trials that you can tour.

A Victorian Beauty with a Turret
This gorgeous Victorian-style home has so many architectural details to admire, especially the rounded turret, curved balconies, and pretty teal shingles. The golden leaves overhead and colorful trees surrounding the house make it even more picturesque, while the inviting front porch looks like the perfect place to enjoy a crisp autumn afternoon.

A Charming New England Farmhouse
This picture-perfect white farmhouse has all the charm you’d expect to find in a quaint New England village, from the white picket fence and welcoming front porch to the red rocking chairs and American flag. I especially love how the touches of golden autumn foliage, colorful mums, and a simple pumpkin create a cozy fall scene without going overboard.

Historic Brick Homes Dressed in Autumn Color
Next up is a beautiful row of historic brick New England homes, where climbing ivy has turned a rich shade of crimson. I love how the orange leaves overhead complement the old brickwork, creating the kind of charming streetscape that makes you want to wander the neighborhood for hours. Seriously – I could spend the whole day wandering historic streets like this.

The Historic Odlin-Otis House
There’s something especially appealing about an old house with dark clapboard siding and a bright red front door. The Odlin-Otis House in Rhode Island, dating to around 1795, has wonderful architectural character, and the simple arrangement of pumpkins and autumn mums beside the doorstep adds just the right amount of seasonal charm.

An Old Brick Farmhouse Surrounded by Fall Foliage
Our final home is a beautiful old brick farmhouse with a red metal roof, white picket fence, and weathered brickwork that hints at its long history. Surrounded by magnificent trees in shades of orange and red, it’s the kind of peaceful country setting that makes autumn in New England feel so special.

Why New England Is So Beautiful in the Fall
What makes New England homes in fall so captivating isn’t simply the colorful leaves. It’s the combination of history, architecture, and the natural beauty of the season. I also love that these homes have so much personality. Some are grand and elegant, while others are simple and unassuming. But each has a story to tell, and autumn provides the perfect backdrop.
And we’re not finished yet! Next Saturday, on Halloween, I’ll share at least nine more beautiful New England homes in fall. Some are wonderfully historic, others are charmingly quaint, and all are especially lovely this time of year.
