Beautiful Bathroom Trends, Historic Homes, and Wildflowers: Friday Finds

Last week I missed posting Friday Finds because I got caught up in touring Washington DC. But I’m back home now and feeling organized again. By the way – I LOVED the DC area and plan to go back in the next few years. I’ll be sharing photos of historic homes and neighborhoods in the next few weeks because I think you’ll enjoy the architecture, too. In case you missed it, I shared the first one from Alexandria this past Wednesday. Such a beautiful place! But for now, let’s take a look at this week’s treasures!

Have you ever seen the before and after photos of a circa 1640 home renovation? Today’s your opportunity to do so. Check out Anna Allen’s historic Plymouth home and the painstaking steps she took to restore it.

Emily Henderson rounds up a list of growing trends for bathrooms, and none of them are particularly contemporary. It feels like bathroom styles are going back in time while keeping their modern conveniences.

This summer I’m thinking of planting a batch of wildflowers by the pond. It’ll make for a colorful backdrop at the far end of the pond against the fence. And I might just add more wildflowers in places throughout the yard where I’m tired of pulling weeds. I found several great wildflower seed mixes at American Meadows. They’ll be easy to grow and better on the budget than buying flats of flowers.

I was astonished when I came across a post about using ribbons for a wall border. But why not? The choices are limitless and ribbon is easy to apply. Let me know what you think of this decorating process.

Have you heard of “floating island” dessert? Apparently it’s a French concoction that’s sure to impress anyone you serve it to. This is going on my list of desserts to try.

Let’s wrap up with a tour of Linden Cottage, located in the UK. The décor is simple, colorful, and comfortable all at once. This little home is sure to lighten your spirits when you see it.
