Modern Cabin in the Woods: Charming Home Tour
Today we’re traveling across the pond to Ireland to visit an adorable modern cabin in the woods. While you might expect a cabin to be a bit rustic, this one successfully flaunts a bit of mid-century style. Award winning designer Egon Walesch Interiors and Flowers is the creative mastermind behind the fun and charming living space. (All Photos by Egon Walesch Interiors and Flowers.)
Colorful pendant lights suspend playfully from the vaulted ceiling, illuminating the Scandinavian dining table. Just yesterday I was at Home Goods and saw these same retro dining chairs in a variety of colors. A richly patterned rug defines the dining space adjacent to the living room.
From the other side, you can the functional side of the kitchen. Open shelving and the white-vaulted ceiling create an airiness and help to make the room seem larger.
Corner windows and a spacious skylight let ample light into the kitchen of this modern cabin, along with providing great views of the woods outdoors.
The vaulted ceiling extends into the pretty living room with soft, earthy colors. I like the mix of patterns in this space … a striped chair, geometric fabric on the ottoman, and a lightly patterned rug.
Do you like mid-century modern style? We plan to sell our house next spring and I’ve been looking at this style of house online. I don’t know where we’ll end up, but I do know I want something different.
Does this modern cabin remind you of a scene out of Mad Men?
The look of the woods outdoors is brought into the bedroom in the form of a wall papered with birch tree trunks.
A blue bird keeps watch over the claw foot tub in the bathroom. Once again the vaulted ceiling creates a bright spacious area, while a colorful patterned floor adds an element of fun.
A second bedroom has a bathroom with a stylish rain shower.
I hope you enjoyed today’s tour of a Modern Cabin in the woods. I’d love to hear if you enjoy mid-century modern style!

I would have never guessed this was a cabin by the inside decor. The mix of patterns and furniture is a fantastic acquired over time look 🙂
I am a farmhouse decor girl pretty much through n through but love the mid century fridge!
This was an enjoyable tour. Yes, it was like Madmen. I remember going to the cabin that was filled with cast-off furniture. Mismatched and lumpy and bumpy. This cabin is gorgeous.
Totally love the outside of the cabin…….Like the blueish cabinets with the red pendants and the vintage fridge. I can’t seem to get past the white walls and the symmetrical patterns homw about you? I know you live georgeous farmhouse style… The openness is ok. The bathroom vanity is wonderful along with the wallpaper. Enjoyed the tour thank you for sharing …look forward to the next one.
