Charming Home Tour ~ Designing Domesticity

Before I started blogging, I was reading several blogs and gaining inspiration from them. One of those first blogs that I read was Designing Domesticity. Liz lived in the Chicagoland area just like me, but has since moved to the low country of South Carolina. Although her house has changed, her beautiful decorating style remains intact.

Traditional KitchenLiz has done an amazing job with her kitchen.

She painted the maple cabinets and they look striking with her wood floors.

Traditional Southern Home KitchenBeautiful counter tops frame the sink and plantation shutters filter Southern sunlight.

Breakfast NookOff the kitchen is the charming breakfast nook with its beautiful farm table.

Traditional Dining RoomLiz added contemporary style wallpaper in the foyer, which looks into the traditional dining room.

I love the clever juxtaposition of the two styles.

Traditional style denIn the charming den, Liz turns to traditional elements like an oriental rug and wing back chair.

White trim adds drama against the darker walls. More plantation shutters adorn the windows.

Traditional style living roomColorful upholstered furniture adds visual interest in the living room.

I love the fun pattern of the two side chairs.

Young Girls BedroomWhat little girl wouldn’t love this fun bedroom?

Bright checked bedding pairs with floral pillow shams. Such a cheery bedroom!

Southern Back PorchWe end our charming home tour today with this beautiful view of Liz’ back porch.

Can’t you just imagine the Southern breezes you’d enjoy out here?

  1. I’ve followed Liz for a long time, too. I love her mix of styles. It’s so cool when people take those “chances”!!

    Thanks, Jennifer!
