Charming Old Homes in Southwest Michigan

We still have a few fall leaves clinging to their trees even though a thin blanket of snow covers the ground. Before we hit all-in winter, I thought I better share my fall photos of charming old homes from my trip to southwest Michigan.

This is the first beauty that caught my eye. You know I love red houses and an old Italianate with a cupola will always steal my heart.

Here’s a cheery little house with a cut-out porch. A little bit of red paint makes some of the details pop.

The bright yellow leaves falling from the tree outside of this light blue duplex took my breath away. The Texas stars and red Adirondack chairs are a charming touch.

Would you believe I took these pics of charming old homes from my car? Normally I walk around neighborhoods with my camera but it was raining out. I wouldn’t have another chance to capture pictures so I had to make do.

I like the simplicity of this charming old home. The yellow and red trees create a perfect frame for the sage green siding. Little pumpkins march up the steps while a simple wreath adorns the front door.

You can tell this perky blue Cape Cod is well loved and cared for. The tidy hedge hugs the walkway and I love the long windows on the first floor.

Lots of detail embellishes this historic Victorian house. From the railings to the fish scale trim – the color scheme is perfect for the fall season.

This dark gray charmer has a sweet little swing and fall decorations on the simple porch.

Hastings, Michigan is your typical Midwest farm town. It’s located about halfway between Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo in an area with rolling hills and plenty of trees.

I’ve been scheduling more frequent short trips and it’s been a bit of a stress reliever for me. This weekend I’m in downtown Chicago with my granddaughter for a little pre-Christmas fun. We’re staying in an apartment to get a real taste of what city living is like!
