Charming Romantic Home ~ Aiken House and Gardens
Today’s stunning home tour is not only beautiful … it’s intoxicating! Aiken House and Gardens is one of the first blogs I started reading so it holds a special place in my heart. Carolyn’s charming, romantic home draws you in and captivates your senses. Once you start exploring her home and gardens, hours pass before you know it! But don’t believe me … see for yourself!
Carolyn’s blog is aptly named Aiken House and Gardens because it’s just as much about the gardens as it is about the house. Both are stunning and when you walk through her gardens you’re convinced you’ve died and gone to heaven. But more about the gardens later …
Soft colors, beautiful florals, elegant lace, warm wood floors … all come together to create one of the most romantic homes you’ll ever see, both inside and out. Here, the dining area of the kitchen exudes flirtatious charm, complete with a chaise tucked in a bay window.
Carolyn’s home is more than just romantic … it’s functional as well. Plenty of beautiful white cabinets grace her kitchen and a large double window allows for ample viewing of the garden spaces just outside.
A cozy reading nook with lace curtains and script pillows. Carolyn’s house possesses all the wonderful architectural details that we know and love when we think of an “charming older home.”
Of course, Carolyn’s living room is just as charming and romantic as the rest of her house. Are you starting to see why her blog is one of the first I started reading and why I’m still a huge fan of hers today?
Blue and red is one of my favorite color combinations, especially when paired with white. Carolyn’s charming romantic home has Victorian charm throughout. The Victorians were famous for bringing the outside in.
And you’ll see plenty of the outdoors inside the walls of Carolyn’s home.
One thing I love about older homes is the detail of their stairways.
This one is fresh and light with its white paint and mirrors.
Several guest bedrooms are tucked away in Carolyn’s charming romantic home.
The master bedroom is a beauty! The fireplace is flanked by a pretty Victorian style door.
And the master bath comes complete with a claw foot tub!
A Victorian style wicker rocking chair graces the upstairs sun room. Love all those windows!
Heading back outside, we get a glimpse of this adorable guest cottage, which you’ve probably seen all over Pinterest! You should see it at Christmas time!
Would anyone refuse a night’s sleep inside the cottage?
The gardens also have a beautiful boathouse …
… that enjoys this spectacular view!
Here, a glimpse of the summer garden. This tour could go on and on … but you can just as easily visit Carolyn over at Aiken House and Gardens to see more. I’ll warn you now though, once you’re there you’ll never want to leave!
Carolyn, thank you for letting me feature your home. It was truly an honor!!
If you love Carolyn’s style as much as I do, you can also follow her on Pinterest.
You can see the rest of the charming homes on my Charming Home Series page.

I agree with you Jennifer ~ Carolyn’s home and gardens are very special, beautiful and romantic. Dreamy to say the least!
Her home is amazingly beautiful. Any time I visit her blog I’m just overwhelmed by how gorgeous it all is. I really enjoyed seeing her home all in one place in this tour. 🙂
Great choice this week, Jennifer! I am also a big fan of Carolyn’s home and gardens! I love seeing both equally.
I’ve followed Carolyn’s blog for a long time too, so I’m glad you featured her home. She certainly has a natural ability for creating pleasing decor.
Hi, I’m Joe MacDonald of Seesights Tours. I had two lovely ladies from the Sates on tour today. Mary was absolutely adamant that we must see the Atkins house. I had never heard of it. But we stopped in near the end of our tour and it was so wonderful. Mary was just in heaven, so excited, and moved by all of what you have done.
Jennifer, thank you so much for this wonderful weekly “Charming Home Tour”. I am enjoying it so much and learning of so many new blogs. The Aiken House is truly a special place and I have spent several hours now looking through her beautiful blog. I am bookmarking each new home on the tour for those days when I need some inspiration to get me moving in a positive direction. I hope your tour continues for a long time to come!
Have a wonderful Sunday, Rose from Nebraska

Carolyn’s blog is one of the first I followed, too. It is always breathtaking, and I always save time to look at the guest cottage as Christmas approaches. She is truly an inspiration!

Carolyn’s blog is one of the first one’s I followed too Jennifer. I so enjoy her home and gardens. We are also fellow Maritimers (the 3 Maritime provinces in eastern Canada) and I hope to go visit her on beautiful Prince Edward Island one of these days. Lovely post Jennifer. Pamela
Carolyn’s breathtaking gardens captured my heart the first time I visited her blog. She is such an amazing gardener and stylist! I’ve always wanted to visit PEI and stay at her guest cottage. 🙂 Beautiful post and home tour, Jennifer!!!!!!!!

beautiful, inviting home! we created the same little reading nook in our first home by taking out double closet doors ~ the perfect spot for sitting & reading with our two little ones. even though we moved from that home almost 25 years ago, our children still remember and talk about it.
Thank you for the beautiful feature about Carolyn. I have been following Carolyn’s blog for some time and like you, and many of your readers, fell in love at first sight. I visited Carolyn on a vacation to PEI and enjoyed every second of our visit. We have since become good friends. Don’t you love that about the blogging world? It is just a wonderful way to share and connect.
Wishing you a beautiful day,
Linda
I have been a fan and follower for years! I want to stay there someday!
What a charming, warm house.
I stumbled across the Aiken House blog and it is absolutely beautiful! Thanks for your information on it as well.
I can’t pick a favorite space. They are all so beautiful. Love that master bedroom!
I’m in love with the summer garden which also stirs up romantic emotions. As a hard-core gardener with a tender heart, I try to transform every corner of my house into a fairy place.
Dear Carolyn,
Your home and gardens are breathtaking!
Do you rent out your guest cottage? My brother and his family have just moved to the Island and I hope to get over for a visit when the weather is warmer and I can enjoy the ocean.
Thanks
~Wendy~
Dear Carolyn Your house is beautiful. Where are you located? Judith
