Easy Transition to Cozy Fall Decorating

Happy First Day of September!! The days are slowly getting shorter and cooler and it’s time to transition to cozy fall decorating. I’m making it easy on myself this year by changing the color scheme and swapping out a few vignettes. (This post contains affiliate links.)

A favorite tip of mine for transitioning decor from one season to the next is – Choose a color scheme!

About a month ago I talked about a fall color I’m crushing on – burgundy/wine/berry – variations of the same hue. I was thumbing through this season’s Pottery Barn catalog and found my color inspiration there. Needless to say, the embroidered wine pillow is from Pottery Barn (on sale – yay me!).

While at the PB store, I got a whiff of this amazing candle at the checkout register and yadda, yadda, yadda – it’s now in my sitting room creating a cozy vibe. I told myself I could use the mercury glass pedestal candle in my Christmas decor, too. Do you rationalize purchasing decisions too?

I still have my etched mercury covered candle from Pottery Barn that has an earthy fragrance. It’s brown color makes it perfect for cozy fall decorating.

The creamy flowers are perfect for transitioning from summer to fall. Later in the season I’ll swap them out for flowers in fall hues.

I should call this post “Fall Decorating with Pottery Barn” because this flower and berry spray is also from PB!

When autumn rolls around I love curling up with some of my favorite magazines in a cozy corner of the house. The recent issue of Midwest Living shows how to make napkin rings with corn husks. I may have to give that a try this year!

My sitting room is the starting point for transitioning to cozy fall decorating throughout my house. I hope to create a warm and inviting place for friends and family.
