Today I’ve got something a little different for you. We’re touring a tiny modern farmhouse by Rauser Design. Inside the home, natural wood elements combine with white wood and black accents to create the farmhouse style made popular by Joanna Gaines. Every inch of space is thoughtfully considered, like the open shelving beneath the staircase.

A wood-burning stove provides warmth to the tiny modern farmhouse on cool evenings. Firewood is conveniently stored beneath the stove. What’s so clever about this house, is that the wall and roof system pushes the insulation to the outside of the home, allowing the framing to be exposed inside. The construction principles come from Joseph Lstiburek, a building scientist.

A built-in, sectional-style window seat creates the best use for seating in a small space. A faux fur rug adds a touch of warmth to the living room. Large windows let plenty of natural light in while adding a sense of spaciousness.

Short shelves are stacked asymmetrically inside the framing to provide storage or a place to show off collectibles.

The industrial-style kitchen is small but efficient. You have everything you need to make your meals. Stainless steel cabinets paired with steel appliances creates a clean, continual line, which helps to give a sense of spaciousness.

A vaulted ceiling in the tiny modern farmhouse adds lots of interest to the bedroom that’s simply decorated with shades of brown and black accents. I’d leave that window open at night so I could wake up to the sounds of birds chirping in the morning.

An air of industrialism continues into the bathroom with a double vanity.

A freestanding tub greets you behind a louvered door. Have you noticed the musical theme throughout the home? There were a couple of guitars along with this Beatles poster.

  1. This house is so cool! I could live there full time, no problem at all. Of course, I’d have to keep the Beatles playing throughout the house all day long 🎶.

  2. Love it! Perfect size for just me now that I am on my own. The ceilings give it character although dusting those beams might take a bit of effort. Worth it though. Thanks for another interesting find, Jennifer.
