All month I’ve been wanting to make some sort of DIY Santa Claus artwork. At first I thought I’d do something with pallets, but never got around to grabbing an old pallet from work. But then I remembered I had this 1980’s print hanging around and decided to transform it into this DIY Santa Claus picture.
Today I’m going to show you how easy it was to make this DIY Santa Claus artwork!
1. Disassemble a framed print you don’t want anymore and paint the frame.
2. Tear out book pages being sure to the leave all edges a little ragged.
3. Mod Podge the pages over the existing print, laying pages in different directions.
4. Using Mod Podge again, apply a vintage Santa graphic atop the book pages, smoothing out wrinkles.
Grab Glitter Glue and start adding the glitter to strategic places.
I added white glitter to the smoke from Santa’s pipe.
Then I added silver glitter to Santa’s beard, hair, and coat to look frosty.
I sprinkled more glitter around the edges of the Santa print to add a little more interest and sparkle. When the glitter glue was dry, I placed the picture back in the frame, which I slightly distressed after painting it.
I dressed it up a bit with my Ho Ho Ho banner and some vintage tinsel and beads.
And now I finally have my DIY Santa Claus picture, although I still want to do something with a pallet. That might have to wait until next year since Christmas is less than a week away! Are you ready for the holiday?
Would you believe I started sewing curtains for my mother when I was in high school? I’m not exactly sure what motivated me, but I remember looking at the windows in my sister’s old bedroom and thought how much better they’d look with new curtains. My mom let me choose the peach fabric on my…

Plaid patterns and fabric remind me of rich woolens from Pendleton Woolen Mills. Back in the day, lucky was the lady who owned a pair of classic wool plaid pants or blazer from the famed Oregon company. Plaid is a great pattern to introduce into your home. It looks great with solids and other patterns….

Ah, the colors of spring! I love them all! Pink, yellow, lavender, spring green, pale blue, and more. The scent of spring intoxicates me, as well. I love this, Jennifer! Such a great Santa image and I love how you used the glitter to embellish the smoke from the pipe and Santa himself. Love the book page background. I may just have to copy this! I think I have what I need already here to do it {except the Santa image, which I can probably find online}.
What a great idea! I love the vintage look! Merry Christmas! ~Christy
Oh that is just gorgeous, Jennifer. So easy to do. I love the whole vignette too. Have a wonderful weekend!

really cool!
Wonderful idea. Looks great. I’m curious, what size was the Santa print itself. Also, what is the overall size of the finished piece.
