I love clocks. The bigger, the better. About a year ago I found a large wall clock on sale (half price) at The Little Traveler. The finish was a little too dark for my taste so I lightened it up with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.
This is what the clock looks like today.
This is what it looked like when I brought it home from The Little Traveler.
Nothing wrong with the color … I simply decided I wanted a lighter shade.
I’m going for a softer palette in the family room, so I think the lighter finish fits better.
I brought in another bamboo floor mat for this room.
They wear extremely well, which is great if you have pets or small children.
But I digress …
Back to the clock. I brushed on a coat of Paris Gray Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.
After it dried I used a dry brush and applied Old White (also ASCP).
Once the paint dried, I applied clear wax all over.
I followed up with touches of dark wax for a more distressed look.
The entire process took less than 3 hours, and that includes drying time.
See that cabinet in the corner? That’s my next ASCP makeover.
I’ll be using Pure White and adding some appliques.
I hope to get it done this weekend. Time will tell!
I really like the new color. The face of the clock blends well with the piece you have on the side wall. Very nice! (Thx for stopping by BTW)
Great job on the clock.
Can I just say FLIPPIN’ FANTASTIC!! What a difference & I love it!
The clock came out great! So cool!1!
What a difference it turned out great!
Love, love, love it! It’s so much better in white! I also love the mats, wherever did you get them? I’ve been thinking about changing over from oriental rugs (need to be replaced soon) to some sort of natural floor covering, bamboo, sisal, etc. Yours are gorgeous.
The clock is fabulous! Nice job! Bonnie
Love it Jennifer! You’re family room looks so cozy. That’s a really great piece you are using for your coffee table too!!

Love your clock makeover. Can’t wait to see what you do with your cabinet.
I can see why you chose to go with a lighter shade. It works perfectly with your room. Nice job. I really must try ASCP.
Hope you’re having a great week.
I love everything about this room especially the fun pillows.
I agree about wall clocks, the bigger the better. Love the new color and await your cabinet transformation. I’ve got one in my living room waiting to be welcomed into the ASCP world.
Love the clock make over….goes well with your decor. Tell me a little about those wood floors. Did I miss a post on them? Gorgeous!
Jennifer!!! Fabulous job on your clock! It’s absolutely beautiful with that lighter shade on it! Where would we be without ASCP, anyway…? lol! Can hardly wait to see how that cabinet turns out, girlie! 🙂
