Color in the Family Room
Fall is in the air. Can you smell it? Driving down the country roads with the windows open, I can smell the harvest of wheat and sweet corn. In my garden, the scent of tomatoes and marigolds fills the air. While I was tending my flowers and vegetables, I noticed the zinnias aren’t blooming as profusely so I snipped a bunch and brought them inside to add some color in the family room.
The colors of late summer are so vibrant and fun. When I’m running down the bike trail, I notice a beautiful mix of sunny yellow and purple wildflowers. And now the mums are budding in the landscape. I wanted to bring that color inside.
My striped coral throw and pillows complement my garden flowers and the color is a great transition into fall. I made the pillow with script and flowers fabric; it was super easy to sew.
I’m going to miss my pretty zinnias. Hubby and I are already planning next year’s garden. He wants to plant more herbs and I want to double the amount of cutting flowers. We both agreed we need to plant fewer tomato plants. We couldn’t keep up with them this year.
I also snipped a little bouquet of marigolds to add a bit of color in the family room.
This last burst of late summer color in the family room is how I’m transitioning into fall.
Do you transition from one season to the next, or do you jump right into fall with warm colors and textiles?
