Freshen Up with 11 Summer Decorating Ideas
Summer is my favorite season, hands down! The days are long, the sun is warm, and summer decorating is free and easy. Here’s 11 home decor ideas to freshen your home for this wonderful time of the year.
If you’re feeling ambitious, consider painting your entryway a sunny yellow. Entries are generally smaller rooms so there’s less to paint and it’s a great way to add a fresh look. Add a couple of colorful prints on the wall and you’re good to go.
Here’s a paler yellow entryway for a softer look. Add blue and white pillows for a great summer look. Swapping out pillows is perhaps the easiest way to update a room.
White furniture looks especially fresh during hotter weather. Consider adding slipcovers to lighten up your rooms. Add a spray of bright blue flowers for a punch of color.
Swap out heavy drapes for something light and breezy like the geometric patterned curtains below. IKEA has several window treatment options that don’t cost a lot of money.
Got a vintage bucket laying around? Take it out of the garden shed and fill it with greens or flowers from your garden. It costs no money and creates a cute summer decorating accent in any room.
A similar idea is to tuck dried flowers or herbs in a wire pedestal bowl or similar. Dried lavender is especially fragrant and appealing.
Is anything more beautiful than fresh flowers from your garden? This is why I always plant a cutting garden with my vegetables. Hydrangeas, delphiniums, and ferns are simply breathtaking when grouped together. Need help arranging them? See how to arrange flowers like a pro.
You can’t go wrong choosing a coastal theme for summer decorating. Lanterns, blue candles, starfish, and seashells create the look of a seaside beach.
Blue and white is a classic summer look. You can choose to paint a room if it’s not already blue, or simply add blue and white accents. Blue and white tableware is a great choice for summer entertaining.
If you’re in a creative mood, consider adding a simple mural to a bedroom wall. Butterflies scatter across the wall and evoke the feeling of summer days.
In the kitchen, keep counters uncluttered and replace the toaster with a small bouquet of garden flowers.
Such pretty and happy ideas, Thanks and have a most enjoyable day!!
Hmmm….. blue and white certainly evokes sea and surf. Love the blue and white breakfast nook and the comb back chairs with the seats painted blue. Such a soothing area/room. Nice post. Thanks.
