Indulge in White

White linens on the bed bring back memories of grandma’s sheets outside on the line blowing in the breeze. The fresh scent of those sheets on the bed is so soothing and pleasant.

Go Patriotic

Summer picnics and 4th of July celebrations are the perfect reason to add a red, white, and blue scheme to your bedroom. Keep furnishings to a minimum to keep an uncluttered look.

Have you ever enjoyed snoozing in a sleeping porch? A sun room can work as well. Lightweight drapes can be pulled to keep out morning sunlight.

Add a Punch of Color

Use a beautiful painting or piece of artwork as inspiration for a summer fresh bedroom. Pull colors out from the art into the rest of the room, like bedding or flowers.

  1. These bedrooms were all so beautiful and relaxing but I have to imagine them with two dogs included at night – one on the end of the bed and one on the floor — but that’s okay. I still prefer crisp, white sheets on my bed, even in the wintertime and can still recall the fragrance and the softness of the outdoors that came from hanging on my mother’s clothesline in the sun and the wind. We were a poor family, but that fragrance and softness was free. One of my favorite childhood memories.

  2. Such beautiful, inspiring rooms! I too remember hanging clothes outside for my mother as a young girl. Sure didn’t appreciate it at the time though! Now I want to do it again, so fresh and lovely! Enjoyed this and all your posts very much. Thank you.

  3. Do you have any dining room inspiration? I have wallpaper above and below a plate rail with dark woodwork. I would like to update my look with a new area rug, window treatment and either paper or paint on the walls, but I just haven’t seen anything similar to my dining room. Thank you.
