Friday Finds #24: Holiday Planning
This week finds me counting the days until my daughter Bridget’s baby is born. She’s due on November 25th. Will his arrival interfere with Thanksgiving dinner? Time will tell!
In other personal news, I’m focusing more on my health prior to the holidays. I’m trying to get back into a regular exercise routine. My goal is to run three to four times per week and use the weightlifting gym at work twice a week. I’ve always been pretty active and have promised myself I wouldn’t get apathetic about exercise as I get older. Easier said than done.
In addition, I’m taking both Vitamin C and D every day for general health, and Niacin to help tamper cholesterol (high cholesterol runs in my family). I plan to give an update soon on my journey with anxiety. I’ve come to the realization it’s probably something I’m going to need to actively manage for the rest of my life. Better to be proactive than reactive, is my motto.
Well let’s get on with some fun stuff – like inspiring ideas for the upcoming holidays.
Here’s this week’s list of Friday Finds!
Let’s start with Thanksgiving. Have you ever brined a turkey? The brine makes the meat a lot more moist and your family will love it. I use this turkey brine recipe.
If you’re hosting and need a centerpiece idea, you don’t want to miss these 35 gorgeous table settings for turkey day!
Are you getting ready to decorate your mantel or some other shelf for Christmas? Here’s a few holiday mantel ideas for you!
You know what might look cute on your mantel? Paper stars that you make yourself!
Or how about paper snowflakes? If you don’t want to mess with making your own, Crate and Barrel has inexpensive paper snowflakes you can use on your Christmas tree (note – I have them hanging on my family room tree).
By all means, stay safe this holiday season. The virus is on the rise and I’d hate for anyone to get really sick. Hopefully a safe vaccine will be available soon!
Who cares about Thanksgiving dinner, if i could be at the hospital waiting for the birth of a precious baby, whether granddaughter or grand anything else. I love these friday finds, thanks!
Thats not what she said. She is happily awaiting the arrival of a new grandchild. She is just saying that in real life of course the baby will make his appearance as soon as the turkey goes in the oven. It’s real life, dont make such a big deal out of nothing.

Yes everyone please be careful, our former son in law who we were still really close with died three weeks ago from Covid. He was only 47 and no underlying health conditions anyone knew of. He development pneumonia due to Covid. He was a big strapping man, we are still is disbelief.
Blessings on the baby to come soon. Good that you are focusing on yourself and recognize what are your top health priorities. I am doing the same….especially with the added nervousness about COVID.
Have a good holiday, and prayers for your family. Be well.
So happy for your soon arrival of your grandson. I have 4 including twins. Being a grandmother is great. I am sorry to hear you struggle with anxiety. I do as well and it makes life very difficult at times. Oh, that shaking of one’s internal organs. Hope this finds you and your family well and happy.
