15 Handmade Gifts for Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day is right around the corner and there’s still time to make mom’s day special with handmade gifts. My mother is no longer with me, but there’s no reason I can’t give a gift to my daughters who are moms. While store-bought presents are always nice, there’s something special about a gift you make with your own hands. Here are some ideas that you can still create before Mother’s Day. Bath Salts
One of my favorite fragrances is Lavender Rosemary bath salts. Lavender is known to help you relax and unwind. Any mom will love this easy DIY bath salt mix that makes your skin soft and smells oh-so-lovely!
Lemon Chamomile bath salts have a refreshing scent that’s sure to lift the spirits. Plus the color is pretty and cheerful, too.
For the particularly feminine female, present handmade gifts of rose-scented bath salts, complete with pretty rose petals that will float on the water while bathing. A little bit of luxury and pampering is a good thing, for moms young and old alike.
Scented Candles
Scented candles are perhaps my all-time favorite of handmade gifts to give. Don’t let candle-making intimidate you. They’re actually fairly easy to make and you can choose from a variety of scents. Find pretty jars for your scented candles to make them all the more special.
Lavender candles smell heavenly and fill the air with their soothing, calming scent. The color is pretty, too.
For something a little different, try making floating tea light candles. They look so pretty in a bowl of water with floating flowers.
Linen Spray
Back to my favorite fragrance, I always have lavender linen spray on hand. I use this when ironing, also spray it on my pillowcase and bed sheets before going to sleep. The scent calms my nerves and helps me relax. Mom will love to have this and it’s so easy to make.
A twist on above, add a little zing with lavender lemon spray, which has more of a lemon than lavender fragrance.
Miscellaneous Handmade Gifts
One more scented project is lavender dryer sachets. Toss one of these little bags, filled with lavender, into the dryer to lightly infuse your laundry with a calming scent.
Make mom a personalized tote with a stenciled canvas bag. You’ll find the plain tote and a variety of stencils at your local craft store. I added a bit of rick-rack trim to this flea market tote bag.
Find pretty paper napkins and decoupage flower pots with them. Give them to mom as is, or plant herbs, flowers, or her favorite houseplant in them.
Present mom with a stack of handmade note cards personalized with stamps, cut outs, and more.
Edible Gifts
Most people enjoy edible gifts, and moms are no exceptions. Make dainty French meringues which are super easy to do. Decorate them with food color “paints” or small cookie decorations.
Is your mom a chocolate lover? She’ll fall in love with a decadent dark chocolate raspberry cake!
If mom is a tea drinker, make custom-flavored tea bags for her. She’ll think of you every time she enjoys her favorite hot beverage. You’ll find three different tea flavors to make for her.
If you’re a mom, what are some favorite gifts you like to receive?
Those are all lovely gifts and packaged beautifully. I think I should be your relative.
