Life in Season Book and Giveaway

Of all the giveaways I’ve offered here on my blog, it seems you enjoy books the most! If you’re like me, you love the feel of a book in your hands with its crisp pages. And if it’s a vintage book, you enjoy the softer pages with their slightly musty smell. Today I’m giving away a new seasonal book about the heart and home. Written by my blogging friend Vanessa and her sister Heather, the book is called Life in Season. (This post contains affiliate links.)

Life in Season - a book about the heart and home.

I became acquainted with Vanessa and Heather through their blog, At the Picket Fence. It was one of the first blogs I started reading. You may already be one of their regular readers (if not, check it out). I’ve always thought the name of their blog is so clever!

Life in Season is conveniently divided into seasonal sections – Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. I took a picture of my favorite seasonal section – Summer. Although, I started reading the Winter section first since that’s when I received a copy of the book.  The pages are peppered with some of Vanessa and Heather’s life lessons, with a good deal of emphasis on their faith.

In addition to entertaining stories that will remind you of your own life occurrences, the sisters share recipes and craft projects. This Blackberry Pie recipe is one I’m for sure going to try. Blackberries are so good for you!

Life in Season is an easy and enjoyable read, with pretty photos filling some of the pages.

Just in time for Easter, Vanessa shares this fun Easter project in the book and on her blog.

Vanessa sent me two signed copies of the book. This one I’m keeping. The other copy I’m giving away.

  7. I love my home in Kentucky because of the defined seasons. As a child I loved the beginning of spring. The smell of the rain and the beauty of the dogwood blooming. Summer was for bare feet and wading in the stream behind our house. Fall was cool and crisp memories of jumping in the piles of leaves. And winter with the coldness and occasional treats of snow cream made with maple flavoring, cream, sugar and of course snow!

  8. I lived in an area that didn’t have many seasonal changes for awhile and although each place has its positives and beauty in life, it didn’t work for me…the seasons seem to fit into the natural flow of our lives and I look forward to the changes each season brings.

  27. I worked in book publishing for many years. Then when I left I ended up starting an antique book and collectibles business. There aren’t as many paper books published but books like this one need to be in print. I love thinking of creative ways to celebrate the seasons. In Maine we definitely have four of them. I hope I can add this book to my collection. Thanks for letting one of us win the book.

  28. Bought a set of books of poetry last week-end, from the Flea Mkt. published in 1905. I credit my grandmother for instilling the love of old books, and reading, in me. She found a book from an estate sale of Edgar Allen Poe with the copyright of 1856. She gave that it to me when I was in High School (more years ago that I’d like to admit.) It is one of my most treasured memories of her.
Am now following the lovely ladies of, “At the Picket Fence” Thank you

  29. This book looks amazing! I love living with the rhythm of the seasons and nature! Sounds like a great gift idea too! I will definitely check out their blog.

  30. Even a CA girl lives in seasons if their work involves travel around the world. Being gone requires my diet to be guided by what’s available wherever I may be eating that day, but other seasonal choices revolve around self care and sleep management. My favorite part of the day is eating seasonal foods around the globe!

  31. Oh, how I would LOVE to win this book! I sent my husband an Amazon wish list for it, but,I don’t think that wish is going to come true 🙁

  32. If not for the book, I would not speak my mind out. Jennifer’s description of the book attracted me to further read details of the book. I am also about to retire and was thinking it would be a nice company on days that I don’t have much tasks on my hand so I am trying my luck.

  33. I just found your site and At The Picket Fence site also and being stuck at home on early disability I can not begin to tell you how much I am enjoying both. I would love to win the book and be able to journey even further into their faith and life lessons.
