Ranunculus, an Inspiration Piece, the Flower House + More: Friday Finds

Today’s collection of Friday Finds really has no common thread to them – other than I think they’re all beautiful and inspiring. This leads me to ask, what type of treasures would you like to see here each Friday? I can certainly accommodate your interests!

How many times have you found a single item for your home that then transforms an entire room? See how to decorate around an inspiration piece once you find something you absolutely have to have. This recently happened to me when I met a contemporary folk artist and fell in love with one of her paintings. I’m still making changes to my living room based on that painting. I shared two of her paintings in my Christmas home tour.

You won’t believe that this beautiful Texas home started as a basic builder home. So many amazing details have been added to give it unique appeal.

Do you love ranunculus? They’re such a pretty flower and Stephanie at Garden Therapy shares how to grow them in your garden. I’m anxious to give these beauties a go this year.

My friend Amanda at Sincerely Marie gave her bedroom a makeover and wow – what a difference she made! Before photos are included so you really get an idea of all the love that went into this room. And she has the scalloped baskets that I love so much!

Did I tell you I painted my living room pink? The top part, anyway. The lower part of the wall with the board and batten is tan. I love the result and will share it soon. The Phinery shares a collection of pretty pink paint colors by Benjamin Moore that might inspire you. I used Coastal Cottage which is not on the list. It’s a peachy shade of pink so it adds a little warmth.

We’ll end with a tour of a 1940s ranch style home called the “Flower House.” Every square inch is a delight, but I especially love the kitchen!

But before you go – if you didn’t enter for a chance to win Fifi O’Neill’s latest decorating book, hop on over to my post about The Romantic Home to enter. The winner is being announced this coming Monday.

  1. Post what ever you want you always have different, unusual finds. I can’t wait to see the living room, I love pink. The bedroom makeover was helpful regarding trim. The scalloped basket and comforter was my favorite things. Ranunculus flowers are beautiful but I have heard they are hard to grow. Peonies are easier and look similar.

  2. I think I’ve seen the pink on your wall but don’t quite remember will be glad to see it again and all you have done. Love the tours as always and some of the wallpaper used. Those older homes you show us are so interesting to see how they paint them or anything else. Love all your posts.

  3. Sooo many great links and ideas today! Thanks so much for always gathering these interesting posts for us. Can’t say that I am a huge fan of folk art, BUT it is really fun watching YOU follow your heart in your new direction of decorating! Your design execution is always inspiring.
Your ideas are coming in very handy since we are almost to the end of the “mold” (it was suspected but never found-only water damage) remediation in our Master Bedroom suite. That has given me reason to scale back a bit more and refine the spaces with the darker antique family pieces that we really want to hold onto as we put the spaces back together. As that winds down (and we get to move back into our home) the FIRE REMEDIATION begins. Yes, in the middle of the mold remediation, we had a small kitchen fire (a few hand burns but no serious injuries) which meant total household content removal (thankfully the MBR was sealed off from the rest of the house!). Good news is that I won’t have to do spring cleaning. haha EVERY surface, windows etc has to be cleaned, painted and every item remediated! Keep your different Friday Finds coming. You have no idea how refreshing and inspiring the variety is to your readers! Blessings to you, Jen. You are more appreciated than you could ever know.
