See Architectural Heritage in the Amazing Georgetown Neighborhood
Have you ever been to the amazing Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, DC and enjoyed its rich history and architecture? Located just west of Downtown DC, Georgetown is a National Historic Landmark. The homes are Federal in style and a little more diverse than the Capitol Hill area where we recently stayed. Following are some of the gorgeous historic homes we saw during our walk through the neighborhood.
You’ll find a mix of brick and clapboard homes while wandering the quaint streets of this popular university town. Many of them have three stories and feature exterior embellishments like the adornments over the windows of this charmer.

A gorgeous blue Victorian enjoys gingerbread trim and plenty of bushes in the yard. You don’t see large lawns and the majority of front yards are filled with plantings of some sort.
Here’s a fun, skinny house that features a bright teal door against gray clapboard siding.
This neighborhood is on a side street not too far from Georgetown University. And just like Capitol Hill, you see a lot of black wrought iron fences.
Wouldn’t you love a tour of this large Victorian style home?
Here are more houses to enjoy, from brick to clapboard siding – from large to smaller. Simply scroll through and enjoy.
Georgetown is well-known for its abundance of shops that line the main streets through town. But the stores also bring traffic – a lot of it. We took the Metro from our Airbnb and then walked about a mile from the station to the downtown area of the amazing Georgetown neighborhood. I have to say I like Capitol Hill and Alexandria better. Georgetown is more crowded than I like.
Georgetown is also known for the Exorcist Steps. This is the stairway that the priest fell down in the Exorcist movie. It was hard to get a photo when people weren’t on it. One older gentleman kept going up and down as his workout for the day.
The amazing Georgetown neighborhood is certainly worth a visit if you’re in the DC area, The architecture and brick sidewalks take you back to another era.
Thank you Jennifer, for these pictures of the beautiful and classic, stately homes in Georgetown. ..They represent a time when wholesome pride in “God & Country” standards, was at a very high level.
Thank you for another beautiful tour Jennifer!
I enjoy these architectural tours so much. Thanks for sharing.
It is a cool area, One of my cousins lives there. Their home is so quaint. Wide plank floors. Narrow, narrow staircase. It puts you in a very historic frame of mind.
I love old houses and this was a fun way to spend some time scrolling through these. It would be so interesting to learn some history about this area, thanks.
