Southern Living Idea House: Crane’s Island
Happy Humpday, friends! I’m super excited about today’s home tour by Riverside Homes which features a Southern Living idea house filled with design beauty at every turn. As you approach the ornate front porch, you realize you’re going to be in for a treat.
Stepping into the foyer, you immediately get a warm, southern charm vibe that transports you to another world. High ceilings and stately architecture are grounded with the warmth of wood and traditional furnishings.
This cozy corner features a unique way of displaying wall art with a brass rod and chains.
Country blue horizontal paneling is paired with pretty wallpaper in a small powder room. Gold sconces and sink hardware lend an air of elegance.
The soft blue and white dining nook gets a waterfront view and live oak trees dripping with Spanish moss.
An expansive porch creates space to cool off with ocean breezes.
An upstairs hallway is decorated with an eye for detail – from the black pendant lights to a row of plants on rounded shelves.
A beautiful 4-poster bed is draped with a printed canopy and accentuated with a porthole mirror.
The bedroom is large enough for an ample seating area to enjoy the views outdoors or catch up on a little reading.
A second bedroom is equally elegant with its curtained backdrop and layered bedding.
More wallpaper makes an appearance in a large upstairs bath of the Southern Living idea house. A dark green soaking tub invites you to relax and unwind.
The spacious idea house has numerous areas outdoors for enjoying the sea breezes. These pictures remind me of our family trips to Hilton Head Island. We also spent time visiting Charleston, Beaufort, and Savannah. The area is intoxicating with its stately homes and live oak trees. It’s one of my favorite places in the United States.
I hope you enjoyed today’s tour as much as I did. You can almost smell the sea breezes!

What a gorgeous house. I appreciated the cohesiveness of the design throughout. So different from many designer houses.
I’m smelling the salty air and it’s taking me away from the chaos. Much needed this morning.
I SOOOO agree with Teddee Grace. This is the first Southern Living Idea Home that I have seen in a long time that made interior design sense to me. And I agree with you about this home “taking me back to Hilton Head.”
We are blessed to have had several dear, dear friends who made Hilton Head (Sea Pines) their home since the 60s. We have always LOVED going there to visit. The older friends have passed but we still have one who now lives in her parent’s home. Some of our best memories are of being part of The Heritage Golf Classic. It was the last PGA tournament to have volunteers staff it and it was amazing to be a part of the “behind the scenes” workings of a PGA tournament!! Hilton Head has grown so much in the last 40 years since we have been going but because of their well thought out zoning and building regulations, it continues to be a lovely example of Southern living. I really enjoyed this home.
I LOVE this home! It is intoxicating with all of its absolute beauty. Thank you, Jennifer, for bringing it to us.
A very beautiful home. I loved the idea of putting the pictures on the rod and hanging by chains.
Hmmm……yummy. Thanks.
I so enjoyed this tour it was so delightful and had so many interesting ideas. Thank you, it is a lovely area.
