The Perfect Wine Lover’s Gift
You’ve heard that old saying, “It is better to give than to receive.” But when it comes to the perfect wine lover’s gift, I believe it’s better to receive! When you have friends and family who love and good wine, the art of elegant gift giving is easy! You know a bottle or two of their favorite wine will be a gift to enjoy and savor! Of course, there’s no harm in being creative and giving wine they’ve never tasted before!
How fabulous would it be to open a gift containing a bottle of red and a bottle of sparkling white wine? Add a pair of elegant wine goblets gilded with gold and you have the perfect wine lover’s gift (hint to my family – this is a great gift idea for me!).
Have you tried Gloria Ferrer wines from California? Named for José Ferrer’s wife, Gloria, the winery opened in 1986 in the breezy, now-famous region in southernmost Sonoma County. Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards was the fulfillment of a longtime family dream: to make world-class méthode champenoise sparkling wines in an exceptional New World terroir.
Blanc de Noirs has a pretty, light rose color with bright strawberry and black cherry aromas with subtle vanilla highlights. I think this is such a festive and elegant sparkling wine … perfect for today’s diverse cuisine, the holidays, and creative gift giving!
I paired this bubbly and refreshing wine with an Apple and Pear Gratin I recently made. The dessert is light and fruity, just like the wine itself. I think many people stress about pairing wines with food but honestly, you should simply enjoy the wine you love with your favorite foods. Typically you pair lighter foods with lighter wines (fish with white wine) and heavier, rich foods with full-bodied red wines that can match the bold flavors.
Pinot Noir is currently my favorite wine of choice. I’ve paired it with pasta, fish, and light desserts. This estate Pinot Noir has notes of black cherry, cedar, and spice with a smooth mouthfeel and long finish. Gloria Ferrer wines have earned over 400 gold medals and 50 90+ scores in the last 5 years.
When you give the gift of wine, be sure to choose an elegant box to package it. Try to avoid the standard paper gift bag shaped specifically for wine bottles. Instead, shop for a holiday box that not only makes a great impression, but can be used later on. I found a sparkly Christmas tree box for the perfect wine lover’s gift.
Inside is a gift that’s sure to make any wine lover smile!
What type of wine do you like best? Red or white?
