Thinkin’ about the Kitchen
When the weather turns cooler, I find myself spending more time in the kitchen. Fall always puts me in the mood to cook and bake. Maybe it has something to do with harvest time.

When I think of summer I think of time spent outdoors and summer fresh food like fruits, vegetables and a plethora of summer salads. When I’m not outside, I’m spending summer days in the kitchen canning tomatoes, making potato salad, cutting up watermelon, and more. I like to keep my kitchen bright and airy through…

I’d love a farm house sink too. And I agree with you, granite is pretty but it’s just not my style. I love the white beadboard. My kitchen is butter yellow and I’m dreaming of a white kichen. I look forward to seeing what you decide to do.
LOVE your photos! We did a pretty big kitchen remdoel and I have ‘some’ bead board but, I want to cover some wall paper and hoping I can talk my hubbie into doing it this winter!!!
You have some great ideas, and I’m sure it will look outstanding.
Blessings,
Linda
Jennifer,
Sounds like a beautiful kitchen to me! Great ideas.I love that idea on your counters!I would love to change mine someday!
xx

Oh I would love butcher block countertops too. However, my counterops are only 4 years old?? My husband did say maybe to a farmhouse sink though :)Hmmm, maybe my countertops will get messed up with the sink install???
I just can’t wait to see what you decide to do.
Blessings,
Chrissy
Oh, how exciting! Please keep us posted as you move forward with the project!

I’d love open shelves instead of upper cabinets! When we had the cabinet doors off to paint, it was so convenient to grab things off the shelves without opening doors. If you haven’t already done so, check out IKEA for butcherblock counters and farmhouse sinks. I just went with my daughter to pick hers up and their prices can’t be beat! I’m sure your farmhouse kitchen will be charming. Can’t wait to see your built-in cupboard!
Your kitchen looks so sweet, Jennifer! I love the look of butcher block countertops and farmhouse sinks. Whatever you do, I know it will be charming!
I love all your ideas. I wish I would have gotten a farm house sink when we re-did our kitchen a few years back. Maybe next time… I’m with you on granite. I like the look of butcher block with white cabinets.
cool to eyes and love to see more http://saidecors.blogspot.in/p/modular-kitchen-images-photos-galleries.html
Now you have me thinking about kitchen redo’s and mini lasagna! Not sure my thighs or Brawn will be happy about those thoughts.
~Bliss~
The plans for your kitchen sound wonderful….I would have beadboard in every room of the house if I could!!! We still have the original beadboard on the walls of our staircase and it is so fabulous. I just wish we had more!!!!
Love your little wire dish strainer, it will look fabulous next to a farmhouse sink. I think you should definetely make that your splurge ;o)
Happy Sunday!

I love your kitchen!! The beadboard is darling!! The tomatoes in the window are so cute! How do you get your photos to turn out so nice??! When ever I try to photograph my sink, it turns out so dark!! Anyway, I am your newest follower and I would love for you to follow me back! Cheers~ Deanna
I agree Jennifer an older home has so much more charm! I love the idea of adding butcher block counters. Wish I did that on my center island. Pretty shots!
Your kitchen looks so welcoming and homey. Your pictures are lovely and peaceful. I’m redoing my kitchen of a very tight budget. I know what you mean about picking one item to splurge on and even then my splurges are a lot less than most people. I splurged on a new floor, but haven’t installed it yet. Kind of scared to tackle it and it was to pricey to have the store install it. Got to work up my nerve for that one. Thanks for sharing your kitchen – it gives me inspiration to move forward on mine.

I vote butcher block, and if you get a farmhouse sink I’ll probably have Zac come over uninstall it and bring it to our house. They are my absolute favorite things. I love them!
Having done our kitchen over 2 years ago (our house was built in 1909), if you want a great countertop go with soapstone! So easy to care for, cheaper than granite, very very old fashioned, you can set hot stuff right on it or cut on it. Love it.
And we got a farmhouse sink – FireClay. The sink is lovely and large, but I have to get something to prevent more chipping :/
Wood floors are so much easier on the feet. Hubby painted ours in a beautiful black and white diagonal squares. Come visit and see!
I love the white in your kitchen! It looks so bright and cheery. Our’s is white as well but mostly to make it look bigger! 😉
Jeanine
Ohhh picking out a new paint color is so fun! That is always may favorite part but I do love your pretty white kitchen just the way it is too!
Lovely photos Jennifer!
I agree with you, I chose open shelves, no upper cabinets and farmhouse sink (not only one but two!) for my new/old kitchen.
Lovely vintage wire dish strainer, I have been looking for one here.
Besos! Silvina
Your kitchen plans sound wonderful!
Charming photos! What fun to be able to plan for a kitchen makeover.

We had a great tomatoe harvest this year and thats why I’m stuck canning tom’s instead of creating like you are. Lovely blog, I like that it shows beauty in small things, like your curtians or just the tom’s or you nice tea towels.
Blessings from Canada.

I don’t think you can go wrong with white dishes and milk bottles -I love and collect both. Great photos. Enjoy your weekend.
I love it when people just share what they are thinking about. Nothing concrete… just thinking.
I like that.
I’ve been thinking about my kitchen too.
I like all your new plans…love the beadboard… and farmhouse sinks sound wonderful. Not into the granite… but the butcher block sounds lovely!
…here’s to dreaming! Pat
