A Handcrafted Adirondack-Style Home in the Hills of Connecticut
Nestled in northwestern Connecticut, this stunning Adirondack-style home styled by Davis Raines Design features a perfect blend of rustic finishes and refined comfort. The cozy home channels the spirit of a classic camp-style vacation home while offering a modern, livable retreat tailored for homeowners seeking the charm of a mountain lodge without leaving New England.
A screened porch offers a quiet, contemplative corner surrounded by nature. With a weathered wood table and benches, you’re invited to linger over morning coffee or late-evening meals by lantern light. The sturdy table, crafted from reclaimed beams, echoes the architectural character of the home, while potted marigolds and simple linens add a fresh, homespun touch.
Gorgeously rich timber work flows throughout the Adirondack-style home, from ceiling to floor. Note the canoe imprint on the cabinet door framing the window seat. A beautiful wool rug adds color to this entryway.ย
The heart of the home is a spectacular great room anchored by a massive stone fireplace that speaks to traditional craftsmanship and rugged materials. Towering timber beams, reclaimed wood paneling, and unique twig trim accents create a space that feels both solid and soulful. The roomโs furnishings reflect a cozy Americana palette, with a striped sofa in bold reds and navy, an overstuffed leather armchair, and a coffee table stacked with books and fresh flowersโall contributing to the inviting atmosphere. Light streams through impressive floor-to-ceiling windows, highlighting the warmth of the wood and stone textures throughout.
A vintage style wicker rocking chair provides a relaxing retreat in a light-filled corner with an antique chest of drawers and a pretty blue ceramic lamp. It’s easy to see why this home was featured in New England Connecticut magazine.ย
In the heart of the Adirondack-style home in Connecticut, the kitchen and adjoining dining area showcase an artful combination of rugged craftsmanship and refined design. The kitchen is fitted with warm butternut cabinetry and matching millwork that subtly honors the forested setting while maintaining a clean, modern aesthetic.
Adjacent to the kitchen, the dining area features a custom dining table and sideboard by artisan Thomas Sippel of Stick and Stone Studio. These pieces donโt just occupy the roomโthey tell a story, with carved motifs of local animals woven into the furniture design
In the primary bedroom, warm knotty pine walls and a plaid Roman shade evoke a classic camp aesthetic, while the tailored upholstered bed and soft textiles ensure modern-day comfort. Earth tones and patternsโlike a golden quilt, kilim pillows, and a blue patterned benchโlayer in visual interest and a sense of lived-in warmth. A sheepskin rug beside the bed softens the room further, creating a restful retreat.
The main bath is connected to nature by way of custom windows with a forested view. Warm wood paneling provides a cozy, cabin-like backdrop, while handcrafted details and rustic finishes maintain continuity with the rest of the home’s lodge-inspired design. Despite the amazing views, the soaker tub steals the show.ย
Thoughtful elements like the wood-framed mirror and artisan lighting create a space that feels both personal and timeless. The result is a bathroom that reflects the homeโs commitment to craftsmanship and connection to nature.

Such a beautiful home with gorgeous warm wood! The great room is to die for–love the stone fireplace and striped sofa.
It’s unfortunate that any wood with yellow or orange tones is considered unsightly by many homeowners today. I could just see someone saying to paint it all white, or worse, gray!
