Darling Little Flat: Charming Home Series

Charming Home Series, home tour January 21, 2018

Flat – an apartment or suite of rooms on one level. Today I’m happy to show you this darling little flat across the seas, residing in Russia. The designer is Tatiana Ivanova who was a chemist until the right side of her brain took over. Good thing she changed careers because today’s home tour is truly charming.

One thing you’ll notice while touring this apartment – colors and tones remain consistent from room to room. Maintaining a similar color scheme throughout creates the illusion of larger rooms. Your eye flows from room to room without any jarring change of color or intensity of hue. The charming breakfast nook sets the tone for a soft palette.

Would you mind a small kitchen if it looked as cute as this one? Small details like the design of the cabinets, the softly patterned Roman shade, the tile back splash – all give this space a truly custom look.

Small-scale furniture helps free up floor space. Traffic patterns become more important in smaller homes.

Loved the flat! Do you have any condo/home tours for those of us who live in smaller spaces?

I’ve always wanted to do a bathroom with large tile on the walls just like the bathroom shown here. This little flat proves smaller can be better. How inspiring. Thanks!

Some people have a gift of putting everything in a perfect place. This flat is so lovely and charming. I could move right in. Those pastries made me hungry!

It’s amazing how some people can make a home seem not so small but very cozy. You can certainly tell it is a home and not just a place to live. Thanks Jennifer for a lovely tour.

A great tour of a beautiful small home. Such interesting objects of decor make the lack of color less noticiable. I found the living room a bit too bland, but then only one wall was shown of that room. Not what we think of when we think of Russian living spaces, but this flat would be a hit anywhere.

For such a small place it had so much character. I was for ever placeing too big of furniture in a small room and it took forever for me to realize how it affected the natural flow. The small flat sure was cozy and appealing.
