Beautiful Magnolia Rental and Decorating Ideas: Friday Finds

Happy Halloween! After tonight it’s time to switch gears toward Thanksgiving and Christmas. I haven’t decided yet how much decorating I’ll do for the holidays. Since the whole family heads to Galena for Christmas, I’m not hosting a holiday dinner at home. So I’m left wondering why I’d want to do all that work putting decorations up and taking them down for just me and hubby. At this point, I prefer seeing decorations elsewhere to get in the spirit of the season. It remains to be seen how this year’s holiday prep work will go. But let’s move on to this week’s Friday Finds …

I want to start today’s collection of treasures with this vacation rental in Waco, Texas, that’s owned by Leslie who blogs at My One Hundred Year Old Home. What a great place to stay! If you’re not familiar with Leslie’s blog, you’re going to want to explore what she shares!

You’re going to be blown away by this attic bathroom at Finding Lovely. She took a barren attic space and turned it into a true spa retreat. What a great idea for anyone with attic space who could use another bathroom.

Want to spruce up your home with an architectural detail? Consider adding board and batten to any room with instructions from Young House Love’s website. It’s cheaper than wainscoting (less wood) or wallpaper and it’s not that hard to install. Hubby installed it in our living room (formerly our dining room) and it didn’t take long.

Here’s another home tour to swoon over! You won’t believe this house is new construction. So for those of you longing for a little bit of old soul in a newer home, you’re likely to walk away with several ideas to achieve a days-gone-by look without sacrificing functionality.

Finally, see how a can of paint for under $20 transformed this tired-looking kitchen into a cheery heart of the home. It’s amazing what a simple change can do to a space.

Come back tomorrow for a special giveaway!!

  1. Regarding your thoughts on decorating for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I have felt this way also when it’s not our turn to have the holiday with son and his family but I always end up at least putting out the items with a special meaning and//or the items that give me joy. I love sitting on my couch or a chair, reading or just looking at the decorations to relax and smile. Thanks for your blog.
