Happy October!! It’s probably the most favorite month in the United States and is celebrated across the country with fall festivals, corn mazes, and more. Leaves are just starting to change colors and folks are planning their leaf-peeping trips.
I’m always checking the fall color report for both Wisconsin and Illinois. Luckily we’ve got a weekend trip to Grand Detour, Illinois, planned for the fourth weekend in October which promises to be the time for peak color in that region. I cannot wait! We’ll check out the parks and trails in addition to exploring Ronald Reagan’s boyhood home in Dixon.
What do you like to do this time of year? Buy a new sweater or two? Roast marshmallows over a bonfire? Visit a winery? If you need ideas, you can check out my list of 15 fall activities.
I found some great inspiration over the week. There seems to be no shortage of great ideas out there!
Enjoy This Week’s Friday Finds:
Let’s start with Jen’s pretty family room and kitchen dressed very simply for fall. Jen is a friend and fellow blogger at City Farmhouse. She lives on Long Island and I love everything she does! Jen has such a fresh approach to decorating.
And how about this 200-year old home refresh? The fireplace is amazing and I can’t imagine tackling a project like this, but textile designer Jessie Cutts is doing an amazing job.
He had me at pumpkin donuts!!! The highly-talented Inspired by Charm blogger, Michael Wurm, shares his recipe for baked pumpkin donuts. I’m having the kids over next weekend and I think I’m gonna serve these as an appetizer. Thank you, Michael!!
You’ve probably heard of tiny houses, but what about skinny houses? Apparently London is full of them. Check out this skinny house that’s on the market for £795,000.
If you read my blog regularly, you probably know I’m a fan of mullioned windows. Well guess what? I found a whole bunch of them in this painted mullions post by Centsational Girl. Makes me reconsider painting the trim in my house a different color, but then I’d probably need to paint the walls too – so I’ll just let that remain a dream for now.
I’ll leave you with some ideas on how to use barn wood in your home. It’s such a great way to add warmth and texture to cozy things up!
Enjoy your weekend! Hubby and I are doing a day trip tomorrow to the Rock River area again. More on that to come!
