Cornwall Beach House: Charming Home Tour
Are you enjoying your summer so far? Our weather has been beautiful and that makes me happy. Sunny days, blooming flowers, strolling along the river, and maybe a few trips to the beach after the grands return from vacation. Summer is my favorite season and this pretty Cornwall beach house by Wickenden Hutley is exactly how I wish my home looked in the summer. It’s fresh, clean, and free of clutter.
The front entrance is simple yet gorgeous. Bright white trim pops against the rustic stone walls. A simple bench out front is welcoming, but is not so overdone that it detracts from the historic beauty of this home. The open door offers a slight peek inside of what’s to come.
An old style fireplace graces the living room with its charming appeal, balanced by a single beach painting overhead. Built-in bookcases have simple, stylish furnishings.
Six-over-six windows create cozy window seats throughout this charming Cornwall beach house. Curtains are kept plain to allow the beauty of the windows to shine. Imagine cracking it open to let the sea breezes infuse the room. Sigh.
A clean kitchen with crisp lines has wonderful details like the wine rack and book shelf. A simple light fixture avoids overpowering the space.
A few glass-front cabinet doors create interest and lend an air of spaciousness. Black counter tops echo the color of the appliances. I tend to prefer industrial style appliances like the stove seen here. The drawer pulls are the same that I have in my own kitchen.
Painted chairs flank a simple farmhouse table in the dining room, with attractive matching light fixtures. A woodburning stove sits in the alcove to provide warmth on chilly winter days.
The fireplace in the family room is identical to that seen in the living room. An impressive stone wall frames it beautifully and provides texture to neutral decorating style.
Simple furnishings decorate the opposite side of the family room; decorative pillows add color while a wooden fish hanging lends a bit of whimsy. Linen curtains with a simple stripe complete the look.
In the upstairs hallway, a window seat provides a beautiful view of the water. Soft textiles invite you to curl up with a good book.
Simple beauty graces all the bedrooms in this Cornwall beach house. The simple mint green sconces add cottage charm.
A ladder serves as a nightstand for matching twin beds, with sconces attached for night lights.
