Cozy Lake Cottage in Blues and Wood
Waterfront property always seems to be a desired dream for many people. Lakes and oceans are also popular vacation spots. There’s just something about water that’s relaxing and draws us to it. So today I’m featuring a cozy lake cottage by Visbeen Architects that’s decorated in warm woods and deep blue tones. The home has a pretty lakeside view with a convenient dock for launching a boat or watching the sunrise or sunset.
Step inside the front door to be greeted by a light and bright entryway with hardwood flooring and white walls. When this much white is used in a room, the warmth of wood really helps to keep it from feeling cold and clinical.
A little further down the hallway is a powder room with bold wallpaper in brown and white. A lot of people are afraid to use big prints in small spaces, but I think it works. Sometimes a big pattern in a large room can feel overpowering, whereas here in a small bathroom, it feels cozy.
Like the foyer, the kitchen is light and bright with a dark stove hood and large, brushed gold light fixtures.
Small blue subway tiles line the wall in another section of the kitchen while a white wooden shutter filters out harsh sunlight. I have always loved wood plantation shutters and wish they weren’t so expensive.
The dining room sports dark blue cabinetry an is open to the nearby family room with its beautiful stone fireplace.
Even though this lake cottage is on the smaller side, it boasts high end finishes like the gorgeous wood paneling and trim work in the den.
And of course, when you live on a lake you want to maximize the benefits of the amazing views with as many windows as possible. Furnishings are kept simple with a mix of pillows adding a bit of pattern and color.
Just beyond is a porch for dining. Note how the ceiling gets a warm wood treatment that mimics the floors in the home.
Cute, right? I love the dark blue exterior paired with white and large boulders. This house certainly has great curb appeal – not to mention an inviting dock!

What lake and what is the name of that GORGEOUS blue paint!!!
Oh that front entry had my heart pounding! What a beautiful home and the blue exterior is fantastic!
Wow! I LOVE that dining porch. I can just imagine curling up in one of those cozy chairs in the fall, watching a good movie with the fire going. Love the wallpaper in the small bath too. Beautiful lake house. Thanks for sharing.
What don’t I love about that home? Love the navy paint and white trim with natural wood door. I am really into that combination lately. I am usually never into natural wood cabinets or the color brown, but they look beautiful in that powder room with that gorgeous wallpaper. (wallpaper – drool) Love the combo of light and bright and wood paneling (which I usually abhor) with the lake views. Everything about this beauty draws me in and makes me want to be there. If only…
Cute on the outside; savvy on the inside. A winner! Blessings on your family and your memory making times together 😇
That’s my kind of place, love that wall paper in the bathroom, would love to try it in mine. If it’s a lake house all you need is a place to eat and sleep otherwise outside is where everyone will be. I thought you were already gone, lol! have fun!
Lovely all the way through and the outside and the lake – perfect! Thanks for the lovely posts.
Have a great time with your family! This house has a great mix of warm rooms to curl up in plus rooms that you want to grab a book and sit while soaking up some sun or enjoy a sunny breakfast. The backsplash tile wall behind the stove is something I plan to do next time. A great eye catcher vs my all white subway tile we did. Navy, warm woods and white….that’s coastal (lake) cottage perfect!!
Beautiful! Would love to know what siding and color was used.
Love the blue exterior, and those floors throughout are gorgeous! So warm and inviting! Stuff of my dreams!
