Southern State of Mind: Charming Home Tour

Whenever I visit the South I’m convinced I once lived there in a former life. There’s something about the heart of the South that stirs my soul … especially the Southeastern section of our country where Spanish moss drips from live oak trees.  Today’s featured home, Southern State of Mind, is located in the beautiful Atlanta area and has loads of traditional appeal.

Heather’s living room is serene and comfortable. Cool blues pair with black and white for a classic decorating look. Even Heather’s snoozing black dog fits right in!

 

You can see the living room when you step through the front door into the foyer. A geometric navy and white rug greets you as you enter. Pretty wood floors unify the interior spaces.

 

Heather’s charming white kitchen has a convenient breakfast bar with a wooden counter.

 

The end of the breakfast bar has built-in shelves for cookbooks and other items that are stored in baskets.

 

Heather infuses her classic style into her bedrooms as well. Here, a guest bedroom displays a bright pink and white pillow against soft blue and white bedding. A fun, yellow pineapple lamp brightens a corner of the room. Did you know the pineapple is a sign of hospitality?

 

A nautical style bathroom is fun and inviting. Did you notice the shower curtain mimics the striped rug in Heather’s entry way?

 

More blue and white stripes appear on the wall in Heather’s son’s bedroom. Colorful stripes are repeated in the quilt while a complimentary geometric pattern is seen on the rug underfoot. Heather cleverly shows how to mix patterns throughout her home.

 

Navy and white come together in Heather’s master bedroom, with a cowhide rug gracing the wood floors. A fun pop of red is added in the form of nightstands.

 

Summer fun is ready and waiting on Heather’s deck outside. Lights suspended above add outdoor enjoyment well into the evening hours.
