Decorate with Sky Blue: Etsy Color of the Year

home decor January 16, 2021

Pantone, Sherwin Williams, and Benjamin Moore all name their color of the year. But did you know Etsy has announced its color of the year? See how to decorate with sky blue – their preferred color of choice for 2021!

According to Wikipedia, sky blue is the color of an unclouded sky at noon. And according to hexidecimal color codes in web design, it’s a medium shade of cyan.

Sky Blue - Etsy Color of the Year 2021

In honor of Etsy’s color of the year, I’m sharing examples of how to decorate with sky blue – or a slight variation of the color, from the front door to other rooms in the house.

Sky blue reminds me of that beautiful pale shade of blue that Rachel Ashwell pairs with pink in her shabby chic style.

Consider adding a soft blue couch or love seat if you’re in the market for new furniture. It’s sure to add a feeling of tranquility to your room.

If you’re not up for painting your walls sky blue or buying new furniture, you can add Etsy’s color of the year with vignettes like a group of pretty bottles. Imagine what this looks like when the sun’s rays shine through them!

Pale blue linens for the table look pretty and are fairly economical. One of the reasons I love white dishes is that you can pair them with any color so you have a greater range of options when setting a table for family or company.

I had to include this light blue range in a colorful kitchen! I could use a double range like that!

A darker shade of sky blue looks great on a home’s exterior, too. Especially when paired with crisp white trim and a picket fence.

So what do you think? Are you a fan of Etsy’s color choice for 2021?

I have a guestroom that has Sky Blue walls. The twin beds have blue and white Laura Ashley comforters with lots of white accent pillows and I have white woodwork and large closet doors that break up the blue walls.. I use the yellow in a quilt wall hanging as a third color. Love the room and my granddaughters do to when they could visit.

I love it, although I am a bigger fan of navy. Wonderful post, Jennifer. Thank you.

A stove like that would be so pretty. Since blue is my favorite color, I have a light blue tiled bathroom, and several other shades of blue in my house. The outside of my house is a blue gray with white trim, and my car is blue. I really didn’t know it was that bad, of course my walls are painted light gray and white.

I could do blue in small batches in the decor or a door especially one with a beautiful pink flowering vine. For our white farmhouse home I bought 2 velvet light blue sofa’s that pop against our white interior. These are dog friendly and wipe easily or I wouldn’t have gone with velvet but blue against white is so pretty. That double stove is gorgeous! I have a hard time finding glass bottles when ever I get an idea to use them for the house. Come fall I looked everywhere for nice brown bottles for our fireplace but nothing. My timing is always off. I painted our backdoor SW color of the year, I believe it was for 2019. It was a mid to darker shade and I love it. Blue is good! I didn’t realize Etsy had a color of the year. I love Etsy and like to support them.

I am a huge fan of blue. Teal is my favorite but I love this sky blue as well as Navy. I always loved blue, white & yellow kitchens. I will say I painted my kitchen walls blue when I redid my kitchen and was not thrilled lol. Just wasn’t the right shade. Plan to repaint one day. That stove is amazing!
