Eclectic Southwestern Style in Houston Home
My 2019 goal for home tours is to showcase a variety of styles in architecture and interior design. Some houses you’ll love, some – not so much. But it’s still interesting to see different design concepts, like today’s traditional home in Houston dressed in eclectic southwestern style.
The large dining room with vaulted ceiling features a colorful vintage cabinet that’s matched by the runner on the table. Leather chairs pull up to a beautiful wood table creating a comfortable room.
An industrial style table on the wall beneath the gorgeous wood staircase creates an area for pretty displays. It can also be used for serving pieces when dining. And of course, any room looks better with a kitty in view!
The traditional white kitchen enjoys elements of southwestern style, like the small throw rug and pops of bright color.
I like how the window wears a valance whose pattern doesn’t match the rug but is complementary with the same bright colors.
The family room is located at the other end of the kitchen and enjoys another southwestern style rug underfoot. A furry faux pelt helps protect the white sofa from spills and while the blue and white pillows add more casual color.
A pair of vintage school desk chairs pair up under a coat rack in the hallway. Note how different patterned rugs create a unified look because they’re in the same color family.
The sink in the laundry room is just too cute for words! And where can I find that plant pot underneath it??
Happy blue tiles in the shower and a quilt-style pattern floor make a fun statement in the bathroom with its fringed shower curtain. And again – another clay plant pot that I want!
I like how this Houston home is pulled together with southwestern style rugs throughout, and an emphasis on red and blue. It’s details like this that allow your eye to flow from one room to the next.

I look forward to your new outlook. The SW style has great appeal here in Colorado. I even spotted a hacienda that I’m yearning to live in! Thanks!
I absolutely love this! So warm and cozy, yet light and bright. I love all of the tile and wood accents.
Every room has something so very interesting to draw the eye and the colors were really nice.No matter what style there is always something to learn and treasure.
