Tucked into the scenic countryside of Connecticut, this New England home designed by Davis Raines Design is a masterclass in rustic charm balanced with modern elegance. Exposed beams, natural materials, and open, light-filled spaces create an inviting residence that feels both grounded in tradition and refreshingly contemporary. Every room tells its own story while contributing to a seamless flow that celebrates the character of New England architecture.

An Inviting Dining Room

The dining room is anchored by a sturdy trestle table paired with traditional chairs, all resting on warm wood floors. A bench tucked against the wall offers extra seating while maintaining an unfussy, relaxed vibe. Itโ€™s a room made for memorable gatherings, echoing old-world charm but with a fresh, curated sensibility.

A mix of earthy texturesโ€”woven baskets, ceramic vessels, and natural branches in a metal jugโ€”create a setting that is both refined and organic. Large artwork of greenery brings the outdoors in, highlighting the homeโ€™s connection to its natural surroundings.

A Kitchen with Soul

The kitchen immediately sets the tone with its farmhouse sensibility and hardworking design. Exposed wood beams give warmth and authenticity, while crisp white cabinetry keeps the space bright and airy. A large island anchors the room, topped with wood that echoes the ceiling beams above. Hanging pot racks filled with colorful colanders and cookware add a touch of personality, reinforcing the kitchen as the heart of the home. Professional-grade appliances make it equally suited for serious cooking and casual gatherings, while counter seating invites family and friends to linger.

A Living Room that Breathes

Stepping into the living room, one is struck by soaring ceilings and expansive windows that invite nature into the space. Floor-to-ceiling glass frames the changing New England seasons like living artwork. Neutral sofas layered with patterned pillows in warm earth tones create comfort without clutter. A modern coffee table and curated accessories lend sophistication, while exposed beams and steel railings give the double-height room an architectural edge. 1. Very pretty home. Would be wonderful to spend time in all of these rooms. Only one thing I didn’t care for was the steps and railings. Maybe just too modern or industrial looking for me. But I certainly liked everything else.
