Beautiful Scandinavian-Style Lake Michigan Cottage
Happy Monday, Friends! I hope that you enjoyed your weekend. Today we’re visiting a Lake Michigan cottage by The Cottage Company of Harbor Springs. I use the term “cottage” loosely because the home is actually quite spacious, but it does possess the look of cottage style along with Scandinavian influences. For example, one of the first things you’ll see when you step inside is a beautiful Moira clock nestled into a cubby beneath the winding staircase.

You’ll find more cream and white in the Lake Michigan cottage kitchen. Wooden bar stools and a rich wood floor add a bit of warmth to the heart of the home.

A pretty Palladian window provides a great view of the lake beyond. The home keeps its neutral color scheme in this casual family room.

A dark tile floor leads the way through a hall, complete with bay window and built-in bench seat. A trio of fish wait in the next room atop an antique dresser.

A guest bedroom with a vaulted ceiling enjoys a classic blue and white color scheme. An overhead ceiling fan keeps summer breezes moving. Perfect for lake living!

This home is so pretty and peaceful. There are lots of good ideas to carry away.
Do we know what whites and cream paints work together? Details, please, Brand, paint colors?
When I try this the white always makes the cream look dirty.
Any help would be appreciated!

I don’t care for the cream paint used with the white in this house. This particular one just looks off – and dirty. The house is beautiful but that cream color surely isn’t. Not trying to be negative, it’s just one woman’s opinion.
Stunning and so serene and inviting. I love the way they decorated it.
Sometimes using total white just looks cold. But the use of cream with the white just has a warmer look to it. I’m a fan. And the house itself plus the decorating is beautiful. What’s not to like?
After reading the comments, I realized this was an older post, revisited. Just not my thing, I am all about color now, thankfully. For example, remember when French country was all about totally drenched, rich reds and blues, mustard and other strong colors? Instead of light gray, medium gray and dark grey? I wish I had my old colorful rooster stuff, my red, white and blue Americana quilts right now.
