See How to Create a Light and Airy Bedroom Retreat
My son texted me today to tell me he was working from home and had the windows open. It reminds me of how wonderful it is to crack the windows the first time after winter and enjoy fresh air inside the house. This then got me to thinking about giving the bedroom a spring refresh. Here’s a few inspirational images that show how to create a light and airy bedroom retreat just in time for the spring and summer seasons.
I’m a sucker for a four-poster bed like this one with its pineapple carving. The white walls aren’t boring due to the molding that gives them a little oomph. The pink is a refreshing color and perfect for spring.

A serene bedroom features a white-washed wood plank ceiling and blue and gray tones. A coastal oil painting and white matelassé coverlet on the bed projects a light-hearted vibe.
Light and airy doesn’t mean a room has to be devoid of color or dressed in pastels. A few colorful pillows in this bedroom retreat add a fun, playful touch.
The color white is often used to create an airy ambiance, which allows any color to be added in moderation to keep the look light and fresh. You can even add a small mix of patterns and still have a dreamy space.
Designer Caitlin Wilson is the queen of pastels and she always creates soft, inviting spaces. Swap out the rug, pillows, and bedding for a new look when the mood hits for a slight change of scenery.

Although the pattern is large, the wallpaper is subdued in color creating a dreamy space. A gingham pillow and bed skirt lend a bit of whimsy.
All of these spaces use a generous amount of white to create an airy bedroom retreat. If your walls aren’t white, consider using white bedding and curtains to create the same effect. I love the romance of the rattan headboard and have always been a fan of tassels and ball fringe, seen here on the curtains and the bedspreads.
To keep the white vaulted ceiling from appearing to be floating away, a large chandelier was incorporated in the center of this beautiful bedroom. Don’t be afraid to add a little glam to a lighthearted space.

White, plush bedding leaves you feeling like you’re sleeping in the clouds. This is such a pretty, feminine and sophisticated place for dreaming.

Do you have a favorite bedroom retreat from today’s collection? Each one is pretty and unique in its own way.
So dreamy!!! Thanks for this inspiring post.
I loved them all, but I especially adored the one with the twin metal beds. So charming!
Loved them all. We’ve had a few sunny, warmer days (upstate/Central NY) and yesterday I turned off the heat and opened my windows to air out my house.
I’m also in the process of doing a Spring refresh in my bedroom- with pink and spring green.
We are in the process of having mold remediation done in our master bedroom suite. It involves a complete gut and putting the room back together. I have been thinking about changing the look in there and using some of our darker antique furniture and, believe it or not, a metal canopy bed! So your first picture was of great encouragement to me with the dark metal pieces and the poster bed! How do you read our minds?!!! haha
Jennifer, I think the first picture with the pink is a duvet cover, do you know where it comes from?
I loved 5 or 6 they are both so pretty. Thanks for these ideas and I did get a few to use in my bedroom.
I also like all of the bed coverings. I really like the male, female pictures above one of the beds.
