Spanish Colonial Style Home in Santa Monica

Let’s take a sunny, virtual trip to Santa Monica, California to enjoy touring a beautiful 1920’s Spanish colonial style home that’s fresh and light. One thing you’ll notice throughout today’s tour is graceful archways from room to room.

The living room is off-white but not at all boring. Wood ceiling beams, a pretty fireplace, and pale colors create a cool living space under the California sun.

The entryway is uncluttered with a bit of color provided by a blue Oriental rug (or maybe it’s Turkish). You almost feel like you’re in Spain as you cross the threshold into the home.

A pretty little archway leads into the small space kitchen with a unique island. There’s plenty of room for cooking in here.

Another arched door takes you into the Spanish colonial dining room with its pale green chairs and traditional chandelier. A sisal rug lends texture to the space.

The family room is quite casual and features kids’ artwork on the walls.

I love this cozy little spot with its star pendant, pretty Roman shade, and painted green dresser.

How cool is that staircase? It reminds me a little of my own stairway. A bathroom with chevron wallpaper is tucked underneath. I believe this is part of the entryway.

Outside, a Mediterranean style patio awaits! Dining out here will truly make you feel like you’re in Barcelona! Funny – it just so happens that Spanish guitar music is playing while I write this.

  1. I love the entrance inside and out to this home it is very unique. I’m not one for Spanish style homes but this one is very cozy and loving the archways including the built ins on either side of the window in the living room. The only draw back I saw was the kitchen seemed awfully small to have an island.

  2. Oh wow, this is what my dream home looks like. I felt the atmosphere of a Spanish town. I especially like the patio. Spanish colonial houses are very charming. When I spent the summer with my grandmother in Spain, I always liked these arches, the rooms look much more when there are no doors. Thanks for your article, good luck!
