Step Back in Time and Experience the Charm of a Vintage Beach Cottage

Get the best of two worlds when you step inside today’s vintage beach cottage by Good Architecture. You’ll find a light and airy cottage vibe paired with vintage furnishings that take you a little back in time. The result is a cozy and comfortable place to put your feet up and admire the interior surroundings.

It all starts in the living room with its whitewashed beamed ceiling, board and batten, and pretty fireplace flanked by built-in bookshelves. Rather than matching chairs by the fireside, a pair of complementary chairs beckon you to enjoy the fire and lounge awhile.

The other side of the room is large enough for a sofa and two, light blue side chairs. Vintage paintings adorn the dimensional walls while mismatched end tables frame the couch.

The vintage beach cottage enjoys a small yet fully functional kitchen. Do you really need any more space than this to cook and bake? Open shelves and glass-front cabinets create a sense of spaciousness. I’m especially fond of the fish print and the linen shades.

The open shelving is truly “open” with a view into the living room.

Adjacent to the kitchen is a pretty dining area with an old wood table and bench. Vintage light fixtures enhance the feel of a time worn space while a large landscape painting adds drama and beauty against the creamy wall.

Antique chairs cozy up the wall with another unique light fixture and plenty of books to enjoy. I like that the rugs throughout the vintage beach cottage are on the thin side. I’ve been thinking of replacing my thicker rugs with thinner rugs. Maybe something from Ruggable where you can throw them in the washer as needed.

The hallway reveals a sneak peak into some of the bedrooms. I like the little washstand between the two doors.

Love this cream and rose pink bedroom with its velvet upholstered bed and bench. So dreamy, don’t you think?

On the other side of the bedroom, you can enjoy the modern convenience of a smart TV. My personal philosophy is to never have a television in the bedroom, but to each his own. Whatever helps you sleep.

A great way to add vintage charm in any room is through the use of old mirrors and paintings. I have plenty of mirrors, I just need to find more of the artwork without spending a fortune on it.

  1. Here is a beach cottage I could love. Beautiful subtle design with soft colors and art that suggest the sea. Nothing made of rope, seashells, boat parts, etc. I wish I knew where to find a rug similar to the one in the pink bedroom…perfect for our master bedroom.

  2. Loved it all and agree no tv in my bedroom. My kitchen isn’t very big but I don’t have to walk very far to reach what I need.

  3. I really like this. Cozy and warm with nice furnishings and not pretentious. I love the kitchen and the little built in shelving on either side of the sink.

  4. This little house is very sweet! We lived in a similar house (not by the beach, though) when our two daughters were teenagers. Not the best for four active adults as far as space and privacy. So we moved to a big giant two story “everybody has their own space” house. Now that they are off into the world and it’s just us two seniors, I’d LOVE to have it back. Funny how that works. This time around I’d like it to be at the beach like this one!
