Tour a Charming Country Estate: A Picturesque Retreat That Wows
Get ready to snuggle up when you tour this charming country estate by Great Rooms Building Group. Although the home is expansive, it feels warm and cozy inside due to the use of wood and stone finishes. Much to my surprise, I found out this picturesque retreat is located not too far from where I live on the outskirts of the Chicago suburbs. The community enjoys all the conveniences of town, but has a lot of green space too.

Step inside and you’re greeted by a stunning, open staircase in the center of the home. The dining room is spotted in the background and you’ll notice the abundance of windows throughout.

From this vantage point you can appreciate the detail of the stone wall while getting a glimpse of the family room at the end of the hallway.

A stone center fireplace leads up to the vaulted, rustic wood ceiling. Blue velvet accent chairs lend a nice pop of color while the large cow overlooks the activity in the room. Rustic cabinets flanking the fireplace provide storage for blankets, board games, and more.

Doesn’t this look like the perfect dining room for Thanksgiving dinner? You get to enjoy a beautiful view of the outdoors while gathered around the table. Black Windsor chairs are a timeless classic and the upholstered end chairs lend a touch of softness. Top it all off with a big rooster as the centerpiece and you’re all set. Not to mention – the gorgeous hardwood floors!

The kitchen is just as beautiful as the rest of the house with a gorgeous shade of green cabinets, rustic wood ceiling beams, and a stone enclosure surrounding the range. Textured brick floors pair beautifully with the wooden kitchen island and the green cabinets.

Like the dining and family rooms, the kitchen features a wall of windows to enjoy the outdoor countryside. I like that a black refrigerator and dishwasher were chosen as opposed to stainless steel. It matches the countertops.

I chuckled when I spied the stacked farm animals in the corner next to the stove. I used to have one of those and blogged about decorating with farmhouse animals. It’s well-suited for this charming country estate kitchen.

The family enjoys an outdoor kitchen on their country property. I think I need to meet these people and get invited to a party. The home and its surroundings are simply beautiful. The little red pig is a sweet touch. I wonder what he’s looking at.

absolutely stunning!
Jennifer, I always enjoy exploring the places you take us . . . but today’s leaves me wanting the warmth of “country estates” like your own. Can’t wait for you to share recent changes in your beautiful old home!
This home is different in the best way. Beautiful!
Yes, I enjoyed this beautiful and yet, cozy home. All that rock and wood, love it.
I love both wood and stone, but many times, I find it to be to much. Not here! What a perfect balance. I also love the pops of color. I could easily move in and not change a thing.
