Cape Cod Cottage: Charming Home Tour
Can you believe my Sunday home tours have been going on for over 2 years now? When I started the Charming Home Series, I never thought it would last this long. I love searching for new houses to feature and today’s hails from Houzz where I found a fresh-scrubbed Cape Cod Cottage style home that’s light and bright and perfect for summer living!
A charming yellow Dutch door leads you into this light-filled California home. Its style is clean, bright, and inviting.
Neutral decor in the living room allows your eye to wander out the windows where the sun shines year-round. Textures in the room add interest when color is missing; bamboo shades, a nubby rug underfoot, a leather chair in the corner, windowpane style drapes at the patio doors, and smooth wooden floors.
You’ll find an open concept floor plan in the kitchen and dining space. Light colors allow natural light to bounce around, keeping this California charmer light and bright.
Beautiful Cape Cod details fill the kitchen, like bead board cabinetry. A double farmhouse sink would be a dream to have!
Clever use of space is made throughout this Cape Cod Cottage. A convenient office is tucked along a wall with a beautiful farmhouse table and schoolhouse type chairs. Nearby bookcases create much-needed storage.
Color makes its appearance in the charming family room with a graphic couch, vintage painted trunk-turned-coffee-table, and California state flag on the wall.
A colorful wicker headboard takes center stage in the simplistic beach bedroom with minimalist styling.
A second bedroom adds a touch of whimsy with a bright orange patio chair. Sometimes all you need in a neutral-colored room is one pop of fun color.
The master bedroom is spacious and continues a mix of textures with a tousled bench at the foot of the bed, a worn leather couch, and the classic 70s rattan chair in the corner.
Laundry room design inspiration
In the hallway, more space is carved out by placing the laundry area behind sliding barn doors.
What a beautifully vintage table for a sink vanity in the bathroom. An art deco mirror overhead completes the eclectic look.
This home provides plenty of outdoor living areas, which is important when you live in a climate-friendly area like California.
There’s even an outdoor kitchen area! I am truly envious of anyone living in California where you can enjoy balmy days most of the year.
I hope you’ve enjoyed touring this amazing Cape Cod Cottage style home in California.

Thank you for the home tour. Their Cape Cod houses are a lot different in California than what they are in Illinois. I enjoyed the tour so much. Thank you.
