Hello friends! I have a fun surprise for you today on this first day of May. Get ready to enjoy a tour of a cozy blue cottage in Chattanooga, Tennessee that you can rent for a vacation. Hubby and I had the great pleasure of staying in this little charmer in the wooded area of Lookout Mountain just last week.
You’ll also enjoy some “cozy living” posts by my friends at the end of this post. As you may or may not know, a few of my blogging friends and I share what makes us feel warm and cozy the first Saturday of each month. And for me, May is a time to get outdoors and explore new places.
Blue Ivy Cottage is an Airbnb rental that’s quaint and small – and it’s literally situated on the side of the hill. We had a designated on-street parking space and I was so delighted to see the cottage at the end of a short trail from the car to the house. I almost felt like Hansel and Gretel finding the candy house in the woods.
Whenever I search for a rental on Airbnb or VRBO, the outside area is just as important to me as the interior of the home. I love to sit outside with coffee in the morning when vacationing. Blue Ivy Cottage has both a front porch and a small balcony out back. Ready to step inside?
The cozy blue cottage is small and includes just about everything you need for comfort and convenience. Katie, the owner, has decorated the rental in an eclectic cottage style that I found unique and refreshing. The light fixtures are whimsical and color is used throughout the rooms.
Hubby was the first to notice that some of the artwork in the cottage was painted by Katie (he noticed the initials). We used the little electric fireplace for a bit of ambiance in the evenings after going out for dinner in Chattanooga (and I must say – they’re some of the best restaurants I’ve visited).
The sofa pulls out into a bed so that four people can stay in the cottage. Trees are all around the home providing beautiful views from every room. A cardinal landed outside the big picture window and pecked on the glass a couple times every morning while we were there.
I really love the light fixture in the living room. The same one appeared in the bedroom, as well. I also loved that there were a few live plants in the cottage.
Another one of Katie’s brilliant paintings is featured above the contemporary dining set. I love her vivid use of color. You can see more of her artwork and even purchase one on her Etsy listing. When you step outside the kitchen door, you’ll find the cozy balcony.
Light wood floors run throughout the little Airbnb and the kitchen is cute with fun little vignettes.
Do you see that retro light blue radio above the windows? Vacation rentals feel more home-y when they have decorative touches and aren’t left barren-looking.
I took note of the bead board enclosure around the refrigerator and want to do the same thing for my fridge.
The bedroom is cute and the bed was super comfy. The starburst above the headboard reminds me of the light fixtures in the living room and bedroom.
Here’s a photo of the view down the street from Blue Ivy Cottage. The roads are winding and heavily wooded. Plenty of trails are located within walking distance and we probably enjoyed the hikes more than any other part of our trip to Chattanooga. I’ve got more photos to share with you, including pictures of some pretty amazing homes.
You can see more photos of the cottage on its Airbnb listing. I highly recommend it as a great place to stay! Favorite the cottage on Airbnb and add it to your wish list. I have my wish lists segmented into geographic areas for easy reference later. And now, be sure to visit my cozy living friends below to see what they’ve got going on!
