Craving Sunshine and the Color Yellow

Do you ever crave a color? Maybe you desperately want a pink dress or a pair of red shoes. Right now I’m craving the color yellow and I’m chalking it up to the emergence of spring and all the daffodils that are in bloom. So for those of you who are in the same boat or simply love the sunshine-y color yellow, this post of yellow rooms is for you!

Soft yellow living rooms are lively but also soothing and charming, especially when paired with white. Add a pale blue and you’ve got a match made in decorating heaven.

I don’t know about you, but it seems to me like a vintage kitchen should always have a touch of yellow in it. The color looks so great with other vintage colors like aqua.

For those of you who enjoy a bolder shade of yellow, these kitchen chairs should be right up your alley. And if you get tired of the color, you can always paint the chairs a new color.

Consider adding a touch of yellow somewhere in your house. For me, it’ll be in my kitchen which hubby is currently painting. He’s almost done! It won’t look too much different though since I’m using colors similar to what was already there. Stay tuned – and stay safe!!

  1. I really like the use of creamy yellows, white and blue. The second picture reminds me of my family room years ago.
My Atlanta decorator cousin told me not to paint the room butter yellow because “it tends to becoming depressing over time,” ??? I smiled everytime I entered that room. I’m happy for you to go with yellows in the kitchen. When I see your happy, Victorian house I imagine the creative use of subtle happy colors inside. Perhaps your “moody” but lucious dark colors are giving way to the next expression of you??? 🙂

  2. Have always loved yellow! People always tell me it doesn’t work well on furniture either but I have used it and still love it. We need sunshine right now & kitchen’s especially brighten everything. Thanks!! Have a great day!!

  3. Blue and yellow are the main colors in my guest room and I never grow tired of the combination. But as I learned the hardware the yellow has to be soft. Painted a bedroom in another home a more intense yellow and had to live with it till we moved😊 Make sure to test your choice under all lighting and seasons.

  4. I like creamy yellow accents, thanks for these pretty examples, i love your kitchen and i am excited to see it,

  5. The main part of my house is open, and it used to be painted a really nice yellow. It was very cheery, and felt a little bit Scandinavian, which I love. I have since changed the color. Time to time I do still miss my yellow.

  6. I love yellow and love all these rooms. Now wondering if I should do the living area in our lakehouse yellow instead of white, with the fireplace painted white. Hmmm.. Decisions lol.
